Sound lovely, Grigio Titanio is one of THE great Ferrari colors. Spec great too but there is just something about :Cup Holder CF (CITP) - $3,533.00 that makes me think the factory could just be having one over on all of us. On the other hand, what a car they make !
For what its worth I am also coming down on the "no shields" side, especially on the F!2. As i understand it though, the aero bridge pieces on which the shields mount can be removed? So I wonder if it is possible to order a set with and a set without thus having the shields/no shields option for yourself and on re-sale?
I need to quote this as the best explanation yet as to why colored calipers are a must not: So true!!! Plus, they're now so big that it's hardly an insignificant detail. I would go with any black, silver or grey. This is similar to a certain extent to what happens with black wheels (though off topic here, sorry, I'll be brief). See for example the LaFerrari which it would seem 90% of cars spec black wheels, whereas 100% of the FXX-Ks sport wonderful contrasting silver wheels. Weird, ain't it? But back to your build and its colouring details, I applaud your choice for G. Titanio, I'd still keep the shields I think (though I would buy a used car without them, no problem) and one small last note, I'd keep the center caps standard yellow. This might be hard to justify elegance-wise but they have been there for so long that to me they simply belong in any road Ferrari.
Color calipers distract the eyes from the silhouette of the car. Ask the dealer for alcantara carpeting it's a special option but adds a more luxurious feel to the interior.
Same as the rise of the popularity of people getting tattoos? That is my observational theory. IMO, calipers should be either silver (to match the wheels) or black (to match those wheels). As my wife always tells me..."Understated elegance is always the best way to go in life." Especially when you are a middle aged person.
Thank you Rodolfo. I am seeing everyone's point on the yellow calipers. I think I will change them to standard black or aluminum alloy (which are sort of bright on their own) or grigio Silverstone and keep the yellow center caps to tie in with the shields and interior yellow tach and yellow cap in the middle of the steering wheel airbag. I am also planning on adding the Grigio Chiaro racing stipe down the middle of the race seats.
Some thoughts. 1. Shields. You can have it both ways! Order the car with the shields and that will be on your window sticker/ build info. You can ask them to make you a set of aero bridges in GT to match your car without shields. When the car arrives have the dealer swap them out and wrap up the original aero bridges. I forget the cost for this but I don't think its too bad. I think you will more than make it up if you want to drive the car without shields but want them for resale. I think the car looks amazing both ways- and I love the shields- its special as befits a Ferrari- but if you want to drive the car a lot then going sans Shields will help you blend in a little better- at a distance anyway. As for whats historically appropriate. I think the SF shield was for race cars only. But the Factory now allows them for street cars so I say thats cool. Everyone draws their own opinions. My opinion is the CF shields are a no no because Enzo Ferrari's hometown is Modena and the town color of Modena is yellow. That is why the background on the shield (and logo) is yellow. And that is why they offer a yellow tach- no one else offers that standard. 2. Calipers. I would go with either black, yellow, or aluminum. All will work. Its purely a question of personal taste. I went with aluminum on mine. But I have often enjoyed the yellow ones- I know it bothers some because it draws the eye to the brakes, but so does the writing on the calipers. So does the massive wheels and tires. These are things the classic cars made do without. Some will hate yellow stitching (thats me) or red stitching or hate non contrasting stitching. I say do what your heart tells you. From a resale stand point I don't think you hurt yourself with any of the 3 above choices. I wouldn't do grigio calipers though. For those who are not in the US market I can tell you it might be an American thing, but we tend to like yellow calipers. 3. Center caps- I would go back to my note about yellow being the color of Modena but my opinion is more flexible for the caps since I don't think they have the same historical significance as the shields or the Ferrari emblem. That said, I think the little bit of yellow gives a little pop to the wheels. As a complete aside, try this for your wheels: diamond finish, black calipers, and either black or yellow caps. Its all personal preferences but I think the completely grey wheels just become too monotone- for me anyway. PS excited for you and congratulations!!!
Thank you for the history lesson. Not sure I will buy another set of aero bridges sans Shield. My config going into the system today or tomorrow will be Aluminum Alloy calipers and shields... I'm keeping the yellow caps and adding the grigio chiaro race stripe to the seat.
Why? I love my yellow calipers on the Grigio FF. The F12 is a sporty car that can get lost in the mix, it needs some pop unless you are going complete stealth. Further, how set on Grigio for the F12 are you? On the FF it works because its such a large car on the F12 I am torn because I think it hides such a magnificent machine. I am all about understated elegance but the F12 shape lack of flares, fenders, etc. is already enough. Again just my opinion, you asked
One important thing you should be aware of. The shields are a different colour than both the standard yellow calipers and the caps. To some, including me, these colours clash rather than tie in together. If you do yellow calipers, yellow hubcaps and shields, you have three different shades of yellow in a very visual place on the car. It's a personal matter, but I'll never choose more than one of them, and none if the car is Giallo Modena, as it adds a fourth shade of yellow. Not a fan of the yellow rev counter for this very reason as well. You have the emblem right in your face, and straight ahead you have another yellow that does not match the colour. If you want shields, get them to colour-match the wheel caps to the wheels, or the exterior colour of the car and leave the calipers black. If you want the calipers to pop a bit without them being "too much", Nero Lucido could be an option and then have the lettering on the caliper matched to the grey colour of the car. I do believe this is possible. Just suggestions and some food for thought.
^^^Thanks for the suggestions. Here is my submitted build...subject to change. They do not have grigio chiaro for the seat stripe. Rather than miss match with the chiaro stitch, I changed to the darker Grigio Scuro thick stitching and scuro stripe, seat belts grigio. The rendering doesn't show the stitching too well, but by the looks of the horse on the headrest and stripe, it might be very nice indeed. Calipers are now Aluminum alloy paint. Please let me know what you all think on Grigio Scuro stitching with black leather. Thanks. Overall, a really great and classy spec. Personally, I think you might be disappointed with the stitching unless you go for a lighter stitch than you think, trying to match the paintwork doesn't really work or provide relief to the black which can be quite oppressive in this cabin without the lighter stitch. I cannot recall the different names I am afraid and I think the stitch you have chosen is a definite grey rather than more of a silver but is in such small quantities you might need more punch, but so difficult to be certain without samples in front of me. Regardless, going to be a stunner. I so nearly went for GT on my tdf.
Rockitman...Looking good! Congrats!... but......Too much black on the interior. Not enough gray. It needs some contrast. I say you should add gray piping on the seats, and also go with gray carpeting. Understated elegance does need a little flair. ;-) Not only that, but with the CF on the dash and central tunnel, the gray carpeting will blend in and look spectacular, because CF does have that gray aspect to it. And switch to a black tach, not the yellow. It will be easier on the eyes with all that black on the dash. Especially driving at night?? This forum is so good at spending your money, isn't it! LOL.

It's not possible. The bridge has a recessed area for the sheild and the shields are screwed in/have holes. You would need a new bridge/paint.
Interior is tough. It's easy to go overboard. I do think the grigio scuro may be too dark. I have till the end of the month I believe to finalize. I wanted to get something into the system and this is it. If the stripe was available in grigio chiaro (lighter gray), I think I would be better off. Maybe I should drop the stripe on the seat all together ?
