Really? Since I was a kid, I've been filled with excitement about the start of the season, can't wait for it to happen, can't wait to see Ferrari on track, full of hopes we win. I thought last year I was at a level of disinterest, but this year, I really haven't got the slightest bit of go about me for this season. Still got the crappy engines, merc still ahead, a new season with even less development options.... What's exactly going to make this exciting? New qualy format? Meh.... New ultra soft tyres? Only if they gave them randomly to two teams per race....

I can't believe I'm saying it, but the excitement this year may well be limited to the implosions of certain personalities within the sport, rather than the racing, just like last year. How boring.

    Hope I'm wrong, forza Ferrari

Ferrari have made some very good progress in testing.

There's more reason to be hopeful this year than last year.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Hopefully!

They did top all the testing times after all. Can't do much better than that.

OK, we know the naysayers will be along soon claiming Merc sandbagged all thru testing, but I'm not so sure.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I've got my doubts I'll watch the first FP, but most definitely the 2nd one.

Quite excited to see the real pecking order Saturday/Sunday. Rain makes for better races but I can't bear to wait another 2 weeks to know the real pecking order ;).

Don't get me wrong, for sure Merc will be 'there or thereabouts', but I am optimistic they're not going to dominate as in the past couple of seasons.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Sorry if I seem to nitpick here, Bas, as it is not my intention...BUT...to have an idea of "the real pecking order", you will have to wait three or four race results.
Melbourne will show us "something", like if some team has a two seconds advantage over the others, it will be obvious, but not yet "a real pecking order"...

Well, I just hope my fears that merc was somehow sandbagging will not be confirmed. Five days now and we will know.

I don't know about sandbagging, but the new radio rules will affect Hamilton more than Rosberg.
Looking at the test sessions, I expect the Mercedes to still be ahead during the first few GPs.
Plus the new qualif format may throw a few dramas.

Agreed on the new qualy rules: Might be interesting. I'm not a whole fan of the idea as yet, but am keeping an open mind.

Have they changed the radio rules again?

    Cheers,
    Ian

my hope is the Hamilton/Rosberg drama goes beyond a simmer (especially on the track)....I think that infighting will be good for Ferrari!

    William,

About sandbagging: I'm not sure they were sandbagging indeed, but they might...read the last sentence of Joe's first paragraph, then the last one of his second paragraph:

    +1 :)

I know you 'get it' - There's always some interesting stuff going on somewhere, even if not so much at the pointy end.

I know Ferrari went on the Ultra-soft and soft too right? That should have been worth a few more tenths of a seconds...

My hope lies in the inter-driver drama (although I think it's blown out of proportion) - even though I hope for it for Ferrari, I think the Nico/Lewis drama is more product of media...

all drivers have some sort of interpersonal struggles, I think most just let the driving do the talking/fighting.

    Forza Ferrari!!!
