Pity he can't drive it the way it was designed for,where he is.

 

I'm sorry, but I think it's a crying shame that the tartan cloth and vinyl headliner are gone, not to mention alcantara instead of mousefur on the dash and wrong leather on the seats.

That car was a rare survivor with original trim. Now it's wrong colour and wrong trim - not a platinum car.

 

Does look better though.

The blue/tan colour combo works well on all Ferraris.

The leather is beige sourced from UK Hide (their version of Connolly Leather). We ditched the black leather and went back to mousehair for the dash and center consol.

What do people think of the provenance of the car? Changing the colour from red to blue, etc. What is the impact to value?

It wasn't red originally anyway. It would be worth a lot more today if it was taken back to the original colour of Celeste Gainsborough and the interior kept as is

I think it looks fantastic now, but I also liked the previous interior.

Maybe some of the owners of these cars DGIF if it's worth a bit less being non-original?
Maybe they have enough money from other means and just want to have the car they paid for the way they like it?

 

There should be more of that.

Thank you everyone for your comments. The car's exterior and interior had to be redone because it was getting old and faded. There was no option of keeping it the way it was. I really did consider taking the car back to Celeste Gainsborough and keeping the cloth inserts. However I dont think that particular color brings out the best shape of this car (neither did Red). Does it affect the value? Perhaps yes perhaps no. If the next caretaker likes the original color and the cloth seats, he can take it back to the original exterior/interior combination.

 

Celeste Gainsborough is one of those colour you either love or hate. If I still had the car or ordering it from new I would probably choose a dark shade of blue as well

 

Me too, the colour combo he went with is beautiful.

Although I do like Azzurro California also and I think that would look great on this car also.
