totally agree.. without shields you're bound to loose $3-4K.. but I fail to see how that matters when the car itself looses $200K in the first year.

Thanks Steve, I was concerned about the Crema seats as I wear blue jeans at lot. I do get a little dye transfer but amazingly it completely comes off with a quick spray of leather cleaner and damp cloth. In fact in comes off easier than in my Granturismo which was Sabbia (slightly darker). I think the leather quality in the FF is much higher, it feels thicker and more supple, but doesn't seem to crease easily.

There is really nice spec FF for sale in the UK without shields that has been on sale for over 6 months. Grigio Silverstone, Beige, Pan Roof. CarPlay etc. It would normally sell quickly so I guess the lack of shields aren't helping. Each to their own but for me it looks bare without them.

That car has Beige Tradizione interior which looks like a cross between curry powder and fake tan.

Saw this leather sample when I specced mine last year and noticed a webbing backing to the sample. I was told it was launched as the new colour for the California, more resilient to weather exposure, but felt very reconstructed much like the faux leather used in cheaper Mercs. Apart from that I think it is well overpriced at £244,900.

Do agree though, without shields it looks undressed.

The FF sans shields, or any modern Ferrari for that matter, makes no sense to me.

The FF is not a car that attracts haters, quite the opposite as it's so novel and elegant. just get the damn thing :)

Says who? Completely disagree. I think lack of shields = lack of taste. To each their own

Not sure about "class" but I've said before the only thing I would change on our FF is the shields. The shields are the only real giveaway (to non enthusiasts) that the car is a Ferrari.

My Lusso will have no shields and no badging at all. I dream of being able to drive and park my Ferrari anywhere.. even the airport for 2 weeks without concern.

Class can be such a BS term, elitist. You're driving a prancing horse either way.
Understated has many approaches. It's is not found in a detail, but a whole package.

The FF needs the shields or it's a blob IMO. Placed in the swoop, the location itself is "classy", or understated. And the car has feminine lines and implied lines, needs more.

The GTC4 would be better without ... they are up high floating in space, a bit plastered on to a hard edge design, needs less.

I like this, really brilliant view, however I disagree with the rest of your post. To need or not to need the shields it's just a matter of opinion or more precisely a matter of what you're used to see. Say the FF's or other recent cars didn't have shields when introduced by Ferrari, then IMO mostly nobody would deem then necessary. There were times back in the 20th century when no road F-car wore shields and all was good. Certainly they don't make the design of the car better or worse... they're just shields. Clean style looks good but not everyone likes getting rid of 100% of the badges.

with all due respect some of you need to take ur meds. look at the title of the thread. if someone wants to minimize unwanted attention they should avoid shields. that's a fact, not an opinion. you will get more attention (good and bad) with shields. I never said shields are classless, I said it's classy to go without shields. when I drive my f40, CS, 458, 430, 512tr and the others I know people are going to look and recognize the ferrari. when I drive my 612, 456, and FF most people don't recognize the cars or care enough so I have no shields on those cars and I prefer my 4 seaters that way.

Brian, you sound like a 10 year old with some of your posts.

I'm with ttforcefed on this one,

I completely understand and agree with what is meant by no shields are classy. It's understated, it's elegant and subtle. It's not bold or brash and scream "look at me", and in my opinion does not befit a good looking elegant GT car like the FF. Generally speaking, I don't like shields on the road cars, I sort of think there too much badging going on already and except for the 288 and F40, I doubt that Enzo himself would have liked it. They basically only appeared on normal road cars after the old man was gone and unable to do anything about it. Anyways, on the F12, the mid engine V8 cars and so forth, sure I can see them fitting in a bit more - but even then I prefer without as I think it looks better, and in terms of Ferrari history it is a lot more pure and respectful to the brand and its heritage.

Shields are sporty and bold, none are elegant and refined - neither has to do with having or not having class.

I wasn't serious with my comment. Just pointing out dumb shi@ comments that people post because they have nothing productive to say. Some people like shields, some don't. To each their own. Doesn't make someone without class or taste etc. Similar to another comment I read not too long ago that black wheels on an F12 is for rappers. Another dumb @ss comment

We can agree that no shields is a good way to get less attention. Although he never asked about shields, he asked about the FF in general.

The rest of your insulting tone and condescending arrogance is a joke. A Trump fan perhaps?

Details are part of a whole package, ultimately not discrete. Please provide a link to your artistic creations, so we can asses your credentials. Visual or otherwise. Owning Fcars doesn't give anyone good taste or clout in taste.

So shields are "sporty and bold" but don't benefit a GT car like the FF?

You're actually making my point, the shields on the FF do make it more sporty and bold, and that helps a car with feminine curves and understated lines. Of course without the shields it still looks like itself, and has little horses front and rear and wheels. The location is understated.

The GTC4 is designed to look "sporty and bold" on the whole, in part to counter the clamoring about the FF, so it's shields are not needed to bolster the design or balance the (non existent) feminine elements. For the GTC4 they ended up in a very weird place, much like the Cali T they seem to me an afterthought, way high on the fender. I would skip them for sure there.

And stop already calling the ff feminine. My lord. A California is feminine. An FF is not at all.

U want a link to my artistic creations? Wld u like to see my garages?
