..just kill the car.....
Most likely, he did not. And while I have no doubt the car will be spectacular, I cant help thinking Ferrari is treating the LaFerrari like the rest of their cars by doing such a move, and maybe they should not. I mean what's next ? A LaFerrari Speciale with bits from the FXX-K ? Some people (including some here on Fchat) made fun of McLaren for introducing a 675 LT Spider after saying the 675LT would only be a coupe. Well not only Ferrari did the same, but they did it with their top of the range car.
"A LaFerrari Speciale with bits from the FXXK?" Please don't spoil the 70th anniversary car for the rest of us who are not Ferrari insiders.
Maybe he just doesn't like the idea. Nor do I, to be honest. Not that anyone should care about what I think...
Isn't the answer, one for the road, one for the track and one for those glorious sunny days on those glorious sweeping roads along the Mediterranean coast line with the howl of the V12 bouncing off the mountain side?😋😋😋😋
Peter you couldn't have said it better! Everyone is entitiled to their own opinion, but anyone who does not like the idea of an open top LAF is crazy! (Just my opinion) it could be because they were denied an allocation.
I find it a bit ironic that an LaF owner denied a Spider allocation should feel cheated. Guess its all relative.
An open top sports car is a contradiction in terms. Manufacturers make huge investments trying to make cars as light, rigid and aerodynamic as possible and then ruin all that by chopping the roof off. That's why some people find the idea of an open top LF silly. It's supposed to be the best, not a compromise. On a personal note, I fail to see the allure of open top motoring. You get burned by the sun, buffeted by the wind and can't really go fast without distractions. Defeats the whole purpose.
F1 cars would be faster if they had closed cockpits (and covered wheels for that matter) as the aero would be better. But's that irrelevant really. We are discussing the decapitation of an enclosed cockpit car now; a car which was designed that way from the beginning.
Seriously, who cares? None of these spiders are going to be racing. They are going to be cruising. You can't beat a convertible for that. Oh - and they'll be better investments too. Win win for the lucky buyers.
