I'd appreciate your thoughts on whether to obtain the extended factor warranty for a 2013 California 30. I've had my car since new with approx. 15,000 miles on it now. No problems so far. I plan on keeping the car for a couple of more years . . . still enjoying it. I'd be interested to know what kinds of problems you are experiencing as the cars get older and whether to get the extended warranty, particularly interested in the feedback of longer time California owners. One year warranty cost is $6,930 and two years is $10,530. Thanks in advance.

Yikes. That's a huge premium. I was under the impression these cars were pretty solid.

You could settle for just the power plant warranty instead

Either I just got ripped off from my dealer or you're being quoted a much better price on the two year extended bumper to bumper factory warranty. I was quoted as follows for my Cal30:

    Ferrari warranty extension:

    -one year $6896

    -two year $13,196

(to seamlessly continue with the new car factory warranty, as opposed to the powertrain warranty which is much more limited). Supposedly this is the non-negotiable, direct from factory fee. Other requirements include warranty extention within 30 days of when the original 3 yr "in service" warranty expires, car must be under a certain number of miles (can't recall but its pretty low - maybe 5k miles?), otherwise inspection also required. Anyone out there have any insights on pricing and whether warranty extension cost is negotiable? It could be that my dealer will claim that its their policy not to negotiate on this but they claimed they simply can't - the fee is paid directly to Ferrari. In any case, I just didn't want to have to worry about something major breaking over the next few years -- even a headlight led failure can apparently require an all new unit for something like $5-6k.

Look at it from a business side. Ferrari would not sell the warranty if they did not make money on the warranty. Are you trying to save money with the warranty (pre-paid maintenance), or are you looking for insurance? You can look at the prior 2 years, you stated no issues.

    these prices are correct.

I choose not to take the warranty on my 2010 50.000 Miles California.
over the past 5 years, my car had not a single issue.
    just tyres and brake pads

That sounds like V12 pricing. Maybe he looked at the wrong column?

I should note that the $9400 price included the 10 percent FCA discount.

Didn't realize that we got a discount on warrant extensions--I thought it was just servicing. Is that not the case?

May vary by dealer, I suppose, but it should be off everything.

I misspoke on that, the price I was offered was a $500 discount off the $9900 regular price. The FCA 10 percent discount is on parts and labor. Whether or not your local dealer would consider the warranty a part is hard to say. Some offer the same discount to Fchat members, too, although with the price of Ferrari parts and labor the FCA membership is well worth the cost, I think.

I've been pondering the same questions about extended warranty for my (Canadian) Cali30. FWIW, the cost of extended warranty, after my dealer's discount for labour, is very similar to the numbers that have been posted here, and include the inspection fee.

However, one of my major beefs about the extended warranty is that any ECU upgrades, including the ones from Novitec Rosso, would void it. I've asked about ECU upgrades from Ferrari (which presumably would skirt voiding the warranty) but apparently there is nothing in the works. The (rather expensive) factory sport exhaust upgrade is OK but it's a cat-back design so that limits performance improvements.

I just looked at the Cali T rates today, so it's a T and might be a bit different but it was $9600 for a full warranty and a bit less for Power only warranty.

My understanding is there is no inspection required to extend the original factory warranty, as long as the scheduled maintenance is up to date.

Buying the New Power warranty after the original warranty has expired does require an inspection and, I would think, fixing anything they find wrong first.

Your point is well-taken and I agree with you.

However my dealer has said it requires the inspection on both occasions when I inquired. I'm going to ask them a 3rd time tomorrow and also show them the Ferrari PDF describing their various warranties. My dealer's saving grace is that what they quoted for the inspection+ extended warranty is not any different from the numbers others have quoted for the extended warranty alone on this thread.

I think it's worth it, had issues with my 458 2014 that spent 4 trips to the dealership/service. Or just take that money and put down on a new lease or purchase and get the coverage on a new one!

I sent an email to my dealer's service manager and my SA. The answer was the same, inspection is required by Ferrari for both the Extended original factory warranty as well as the New Power warranty. Here's the actual text "...Whether it's for a Warranty Extension or Power Warranty an inspection is always needed. Without the inspection check lists Ferrari will not add the warranty. This applies to all customers and our sales dept as well...".

As I mentioned, from the cost standpoint, there's no real difference between the costs mentioned on this thread when compared to what my dealer quoted me with the inspection included.

Maybe someone in the US has additional information to share on whether the inspection is included in the (original) warranty extension as well.

I was always told that it is much cheaper to do when you buy the car, as the PPI is done. I would imagine it is a full inspection, which if you are having your car serviced, could be done at the same time and probably save you some money

I'm amazed with the one year/two year warranty extension prices you pay in the USA. For a Cali 2010 with 18.000 Km but very well maintained a one year guarantee extension, covering the engine and the gear box, costs in my country which is located in europe around $3.000. In the USA there are many more Ferraris than in all Europe so following the logic of the economy of scale you should pay less. I reckon prices have a hell of a lot to do with the dealers policy and I suppose in the USA they believe that american Ferrari owners are all very wealthy people.
The warranty extension price should be not be a fixed value but variable according to the vehicle history and inspection state. That's the way they make the warranty extension price on my dealer.

    Montu,

I bought the two additional years for my '11 Cali, and while it gave me peace of mind, I had zero problems in that period.
