I am not talking about racing per se; I didn't mention F1 first after all. I am talking about fast driving, be it on an Italian track, the Autobahn or a twisty Welsh B Road. If one is after cruising, an open top Roller is a much superior choice. I won't go down the financial route either. We are talking cars here.

I highly doubt anyone who drive a LAF Coupe and a Spider would be able to feel much of a difference. Ferrari would not market a car, especially a halo model which they thought was not dynamically polished.

Precisely. The cars will be plenty good enough for their intended mission which is gentle cruising with the odd spirited road blast followed by a heavy dose of pampering. They will be excellent. I don't get the negativity at all, and neither will the buying market.

Convertibles are so named because they convert from having a roof to having no roof - So where is the convertible part on an F1 car?

Soon F1 cars will have a hard top, so all this discussion will end. :D :D

why are you so against the idea of an open top Laf??? why do you have it in your head that not having a roof equals intolerable compromise? LaF chassis without roof section is still on par with Enzo with a roof. And yes, the central tub section was designed and over engineered from the beginning to meet or exceed design targets without the roof. Don't kid yourself, the LaF WAS designed from the get go with a 'spyder' variant in mind.

as for the 'open air motoring' matter. I completely disagree with you. For me, it adds a great amount of positives to the experience. Never been sunburned, never annoyed or overwhelmed by any sort of massive wind buffeting, and the sensation of speed is actually intensified without actually having to go ridiculously fast. In these parts of Colorado and its roads, I've had some fantastic drives in the spring and summer months be that much more fantastic simply because of 'not having a roof'.

Wonder if it will have a proper retractable roof or just a temporary affair like barchetta

My bet is a removable CF targa like the 918.

We clearly have different tastes. Even an open sunroof annoys me when going fast.

It all comes down to being a coupé or a spider guy I guess. Partially this reflects in the amount of coupés and spiders sold through the years. However spiders always come in more limited numbers and a bit more expensive so hard to say which one is the favorite. Safe to say there's huge enough market for both. So similar story for LaFerrari, I would still choose the coupé vs. the spider and I'm obviously not the only one.

After driving my 918 WP without the roof for the first time, It was fun and he'll of a ride I never had an open top for years.

So I did made some steps on some future buys.

Also never mind what factories do its all business to me and I'm OK with it.

It looks like a normal LaFerrari without the rear glass cover to me. The roof area and parts look completely standard. No hint of spider anywhere.

Struggling to see it as the central spine is still intact along with the doors cut into the roof.

The LaF was always available in any colour. It was the F50 that was limited to 3 colours (red, black and yellow)
