Sorry my message got a bit messed up there. Not sure how to get the correct blue as the paint code is missing from the deck lid. Also the one picture doesn't show the 2 coats of paint very well thought it would. But the top shade is lighter, then a primer coat then the darker blue like Aircon's car and then the yellow base primer/sealer. Will try and get a better picture of the original color tonight. Coming together quickly now. Dash is out, got the glass out of the front windshield, cracked it of course but needed new glass anyway. The one picture shows the rust but that will be gone, not as bad as we thought it might be, so Saturday will be the tail once the striping is completed. It's some special type of striping that won't hurt the panels, and will remove all the paint. Really excited as I got the car back from the mechanic, who took all of a year to get to this point. Not going back there that's for sure, kept putting this one on the back burner to fix BMW's or something. Now I'm 5 months behind on the paint. Need to be done by June 1st, so we will see. Doing a lot myself and with the help of another F chatter. She should look very pretty soon. Brian
Spoke with Carlo at AofT in Friday he looked at the car and said no Boxer on that car in 77 darn it. Oh well. Here is a before and after pick after the glass and water blast. This car is very straight and clean. Has the rust in the left rear and the windshield area but other that that it's perfect. Will be posting updates on the other thread. But it's coming together now. Doesn't BigTex have some period pictures of the car with Mario with it boxer scheme? Was this Mario's old car?
Yes he has pictures but it wasn't Mario's car. It was converted to boxer maybe to sell the car. It was at the dealer for a very long time. Car is a 77 but for some reason didn't sell until 81 per the warranty card. Believe the dealer did the change to sell the car. Added the spoiler, the black vents behind the head lights and the boxer paint. All of which for 77 is not correct. Will keep the spoiler in case someone in the future may want it installed. Will try and keep as correct as possible. I did upgrade the AC and the fuel pump but have everything to reinstall if desired. Hope to be done by July 1 but not sure. Mario was not the owner, we went by his Winery, on the trip home!! I bought it from Les Hodel, in Portland OR It did sit three years unsold, at Ron Tonkin..lucky they did not put "Hello Kitty" on it to get it out of there!! I am really really happy to see the rust at the windshield was not as far along as "some people thought"..it was bad, it the rain trough at the front of the hood. Two weep holes there are easily clogged, be sure to drill them back in!! I will dig into my confirmation from the factory on the original paint code. I actually think it IS the one in the top of this thread...106 A 32 But at this point we should be sure. You can Log In to the factory site, as I did to record your woenrship of the VIn and they will confirm the code..let me try now...
Wow, lucky you. According to that 308 paint spec website earlier in this post, your paint was not used until after the early 80's. It is the most similar to my colour but mine is late 70's so can't have your colour code. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
