A chilling video indeed, I too wish for the best recovery. If you have a vintage car think about the seat belt set up. I'm already in the process of upgrading the seat belts in my old Ferrari with modern retractors belts and buckles...originality be damned. My kids ride in this Ferrari all the time and I can't count the times they rode in a Speedster or other 356 with only a vintage lap belt. I have photos of my kid when they were little, buckled together in one speedster seat...stupid stupid stupid.
Wow, So sorry to hear this. Jon - best wishes for a speedy recovery to you and your girlfriend. I very much enjoyed our conversations about the 356s. I'm sure all three of you will be back together soon. Franny
Yes, wishing for a fast recovery as well and very sorry to hear about this. As for seat belts, can't always be done properly on a car of this vintage. (especially 3 point and especially a convertible).
Hoping for the best for Jon and his friend. Please post back if there is anything we can do to help them.
Oh no. Just saw this. I've learned a lot from Jon over the years here on FChat, and I hope that he makes a speedy recovery. Cars, even rare ones like his 356, can be replaced.
I'd rather not rant (though it might feel good ?) about people who drive drunk/high, instead I want to send Jon and his girlfriend a shipload of positive energy. I don't know him other than from his postings, but that makes no difference. Humans can be very resilient and miracles can and do happen. Fight this "Bull" succesfully Jon !!
UPDATE: 03/29/2016 The DUI suspect has 3 prior DUI convictions, the 2 passengers in the Porsche are still on Life support, and considered to be Brain Dead. I've posted in the Porsche section where I first met Jon. We have exchanged numerous emails, pms and extensive knowledge about these automotive icons. This whole thing just makes me sad. I actually took my Speedster out on Sunday for an Easter drive as well. It could happen to anybody. My hopes and prayers are with Jon and his girlfriend. Godspeed
so sad and unnecessary. I hope they come through it ok. how is someone with 3 DUI convictions even allowed on the roads!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0wlpX4xHA0 11 min footage. It's so sad to see Jon being taken out of the car. It's really gut wrenching. The damage to the speedster is much worse than I thought. Horrific.
