I am very saddened to hear this news.

Jon is a wonderful guy in person and he is one of the most respected members on the forum. We met in San Diego in 2007 while I was visiting the US.

I was looking forward to meeting Jon that day as I really enjoyed reading his posts on Ferrari Chat. We used to have a lot of fun on the forum together.

I also met Eric and many others, all great guys in the SD area.

I am not sure if I can help in anyway on this end, but if there is anything I can do please let me know.

Thoughts, prayers and love are with Jon and his partner.

Jay, I know you are merely the messenger, so my disdain is not at all directed towards you for posting the link. So, no offense intended to you whatsoever.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'm sorry, but things like that should not be allowed to be posted on youtube, IMHO. What a horrible and morbid invasion of the victims' privacy --- shame on those who record and then post such things. And, I noticed that the group who did also does so with many similar accidents / disasters --- for a business. That is disgusting to me.

Unfortunately, I had to watch it in order to know how objectionable I thought it was.

But, yes...... both people clearly unconscious and non-responsive = terribly, terribly sad situation.

I hope they both are getting excellent medical care and have the strength to fully recover.

May He who blessed our fathers, the Holy One, blessed be He, be filled with mercy for them, to restore them to health and to cure them, to strengthen them and to invigorate them. And may He hasten to send them from heaven a complete recovery. And let us say, Amen.

I think that Jon may be doing better. His brother posted to friends on Facebook that Jon is ok with using his right side easily but struggling with his left side - the side of the impact. He also said that his friend, Amanda, is "getting off life support." Unfortunately, I don't know if that is the good kind of getting off or bad, but I will guess the good kind. His brother asked to keep them both in your prayers.

I'll try to verify his hospital location and update when I hear more.

I look forward to seeing him back writing away...

It's terrible to see this all go down.

This road is near Jon's home. I remember the first time to see his spider. After we grabbed some lunch at a local joint, Jon unzipped the passenger cover and I got in the car for the first time. We drove the spider down that exact road. It was another beautiful day. Jon commented on the weight of the car and it's quick handling doing fine with the 60 or so hp engine. He talked about the car's Low spot being the 1950's brakes but understood how to work them to his benefit. We had a fantastic drive around some of his favorite roads in the area. We stopped a couple of times to get the photos of his car on his restoration so he could see about future publication. I think my favorite aspects of his car were the painted gauges and bezels. The body's paint and color were really fantastic.

The car absolutely fit his character from his sunglasses to his loafers and all of his stories in between.

I wish Jon a very speedy recovery so he can be back out there in his element on another beautiful day.

I don't mean to speculate but he may mean get off the respirator, which would be viewed as a positive sign.

Having been on one I can tell you its no fun. I'm hoping like everyone else this passes and the two of them come out of his happy and healthy.

My Wife and I were waiting to get on the I-4 the other day and two, 20-something, guys in an open top Miata were hitting a bong sitting in the adjacent turn lane right next to us, the huge volume of smoke coming from their direction caught my eye, then I smelled weed.

When we got the turn arrow, they proceeded to accelerate quickly onto the interstate to about 80, weaving through traffic along the way until they went out of my sight.

Most states are on the way to legalizing weed, we will see more of this type of behavior and problems I fear.
