Don't know where else to put this.

I have come into a LOT of old Ludlow Typecasting lead/tin/antimony mix slugs (long strips) that I'm told make great cast bullets.

4% tin 12% antimony 84% lead with a BNH of 22 is as close an approximation as I can get.

I also don't know if anyone here casts their own stuff.

But if you do, have I got a deal for you. I'll put 30+ lbs of this stuff into a USPS Priority Mail flat rate shipper and send to you for $40.00 delivered.

the photos show what I have. they also show some wood strips mixed in, which I will pull out before boxing and shipping.

So, if you're interested, take a look, shoot me a PM and I'll send you a paypal invoice. you pay, I ship, everyone is happy. Order as many as you need, I have 2000 lbs of this stuff.

    Let me know,

    Dave M.

The antimony in this would make it perfect for lead mallets for knock on wheels.
The antimony helps prevent the severe distortion of pure lead mallets (too soft)

    Dave,

Maybe you should make a dozen mallets for Daniel to advertise on Ricambi!

I would, BUT, I no longer have the casting equipment necessary to attack that task.

Also, I suspect this material is just a little TOO hard for that job, might be a touch brittle as well as it ages, where as just lead stays softer. This stuff is quite a bit harder than lead. The tin/antimony mix makes it significantly more so.

I'll pass this on to some friends who make their own.
