I'm curious to know how long the wait is for a "build your own" new car from the factory.
I would think it would vary wildly but thought someone here might be able to clue me in to the process.
    Thanks.

Depends on which Ferrari you want plus what part of the US are you trying to do business in

My order for a Tailor Made F12 was submitted to the electronic system in early June 2015, went Status 10 early September and Red 10 about a month ago. Guessing I'll see it this summer, so over a year for mine.

Thank you! Another question. Do you have to be a previous Ferrari owner to be able to go to your local dealer and order the newest, say 488 spyder? Or are there limited supplies to each region and already promised to or prepaid for by current multi car owners?

your best bet is to talk to the dealer for example a california could probably be ordered pretty quickly and received in 5 months or so... for an f12 if you could get it and assuming it is non taylor made i would take about 6 months from the time the car goes status 10.. I ordered my F12 and it was picked up by ferrari within a couple of weeks so i ordered it in July and received it in November....but that was not my first new ferrari.... .and i used air freight ....

Have owned many new Ferraris. Ordered an F12 through Ferrari of Palm Beach, waited 10 months or so with no word, then was told my salesman had left - cancelled the order, decided just to chase the old cars and not bother with today's company. They are very successful and don't need to care about wait times or anything else because Americans are lined up to buy their cars. My hat's off to them, there's no point in becoming frustrated or angry as some do. There are many, many preowned 8 cylinder cars out there, tons of 458s, a slowly building number of F12s, but I don't see any widespread adverse effect on perceptions of value or exclusivity. Sergio doesn't seem afraid to increase production, perhaps some wait times will be reduced if more cars head to the US. It's a remarkable business, really.

Seriously? I'm being asked to purchase a coupe in order to get a spider. I don't want to play the game if all have been allocated.

They can become available Ferrari uses a 100% sold out position on all their cars this does not mean that you cannot get one but it is pretty hard for a first time buyer to get a hot model in the first 2 years of production in North America. So a lot of dealers try the buy this and I will get You X next time etc

That's something. I'd be sending emails twice a week.

    Which won't get answered.

To answer the op: it depends. You have to buy from your dealer in 150 miles of you. Each delear has different allocations and different customers ahead of you. Previous customers get higher priority. If you trade in a car they want they helps too.

Imo don't expect one for two years. I waited 3 for an F430 spider in LA.

The best thing to do is contact your local dealer.

Then the whining and crying begins.

You have to buy within 150 miles of where you live?

If there is a dealer within 150 miles(i believe ) that is the only dealer you can buy new cars from (this is a FNA thing) .. If you live i believe more then 150 miles from any dealer you fare free to buy from anywhere...
Interestingly in my case i live 200 miles away from either of 2 dealers I chose FOW.. but now i have a place in Palm Beach (second home) and there is a very nice dealer only 10 miles away which i go by every time i am in the area.

    All true!

If you feel you should be treated as "special" when making a $300k+ purchase, I urge you to buy something else! If you want a Ferrari, well ... it's their game. It's an easy game to play, though. It's not difficult to become a "special" client.
