They say confession is good for the soul. So here goes... Deep breath... I hate mayonnaise as well! Party on condiment lovers! I do however like barbecue sauce and salsa. I'd have to give up my Texas citizenship otherwise! I prefer homemade bbq sauce though. Store bought stuff is usually too sweet and not spicy enough for me...T
I go through a lot of mayo. Finally have nice spring like weather, sunny and 70 outside. Thinking of dragging my parents to White Rock. Get some fish and chips. Walk the waterfront and pier. Get some gelato for dessert. The only thing I dislike about White Rock, they've banned dogs from the beach or Id bring mine with me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rock,_British_Columbia I'm not a big fan of corn syrup drinks. We've had a root beer called Dad's for a few years that's pretty good. Discovered the makers also manufacture other drinks. They use cane sugar instead of that fructose crap. Very good. But might only be a BC/WA thing. Its a WA company. Orca Beverage Inc. ? Producing retro-sodas, made with pure cane sigar and all in glass bottles.
Ended up at The Boathouse restaurant in White Rock. I agree with the Yelp rating of 3 stars out of 5. Had the salmon burger.
Well I have to say that I love both mayo and mustard. I stopped by the store to grab a few quick things last night and for some reason (I think someone mentioned it here recently) the liverwurst caught my eye. I haven't had it in years but I bought some and a roll and made a nice big sammich last night. It was simply mayo, mustard and liverwurst. Good stuff. Got up this morning and made chorizo and egg burrito. Ended up making a really big one so didn't grab anything for dinner today. Going to do a big BBQ for all my folks at work one night next week so need to hit up Costco sometime and grab burgers and dogs.
First time at Dallas chop house. Was very pleased with my cowboy ribeye ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
That rib eye looks awesome. Boring homemade burger and fries. I made the fries myself. Fried them in the deep fryer. The hamburger meat came from a farm just up the road from my house. They raise their own beef, butcher and sell the meats. They sometimes run out of cuts. I sometimes buy a whole side. http://www.grassonlybeef.ca/
Oh dear. I'm guessing that's taking place at Jerry World. Almost make me glad I'm traveling this weekend! Have fun in Big D...T
1. Never had a cowboy cut rib eye but it IS on the must have list. 2. Hellman's mayo is my favorite and the only brand I use when making mom's recipes for tartar sauce (can just spoon feed straight from the jar it is so good), chicken salad and tuna fish salad. My brother went home with six mason jars last weekend then forgot to leave a jar or two with dad so I brought dad and uncle Mike my last jar.
Yep, hellman's is my go to for mayo. Best Foods is the same as Hellman's, owned by the same company, so that's my second choice. Thinking chicken breasts in the crock pot. Either store bought BBQ sauce or make my own.
Not sure of the post number but it was mentioned that store bought is too sweet and I must agree with that. Watching a lot of food shows I have found that there are a lot of sauces on the market yet some are not sold in specific area's which leaves us up to our own Frankenstein experiments. I have never made my own bbq sauce but I am thinking about giving it a try very soon.
Yeah, store bought is usually too sweet. But you can add spices and make them better. My mother has a recipe for sauce, I'll probably use that. She makes it for ribs.
Good little trick is to cut a chunk of fat or skin off what you're grilling, sweat it over high flame and throw it in your sauce to infuse it with a little flavor.
That may have been me. I like this recipe. http://www.saveur.com/article/recipes/blueberry-chipotle-ketchup I posted it in the burget thread. As I recall, I cut back on the sugar and skipped the ginger...T
Ended up getting a phone call from my cousin. Typical Woman! Just got a new car, what did you get? I ask. She says "Mercedes" I ask what kind. She doesn't know its a diesel! Then I ask her about talking on the cell while driving. Isn't that illegal I ask. Nope not for her, cops are exempted even off duty. Anyway invited her and her husband over for dinner. Bought some more chicken. Have my parents over and my mom making BBQ sauce. Should be fun. I just want to see what Mercedes she bought.
Tell her after she finishes her plate it was meat of an unknown origin but she has entered the cannibal realm and then recommend high octane for her purdy new transporter. Oh and let her know that Bluetooth is not a dental hygienic issue. Post the video. Well done.
Trying to talk my mom into giving the recipe. Its in her head. Chicken still cooking so we haven't ate yet. Mercedes GL350 with BlueTec. Goes pretty good. Took it up to the gas station.
Get them recipes! They're precious. Wish I had paid a lot closer attention to my grandma's recipes as a kid. Wife test drove a GLK and GL before she decided she couldn't bear to part with her pickup truck. So, she got an SLK instead. 😳 The GL was a really nice ride...T
Yeah, we made the mistake of not writing down or getting several recipes from grandma's and great grand moms stuff. Know my great aunts are too old to remember my great grand mothers recipes. I liked the ride. It wasn't as good as my Cayenne, but I liked the interior more.
