A second a lap, hey? Looks like he lost almost nothing....apart from not getting a good run because he was stuck in traffic.

Shame it doesn't work whenever he's quoted, though...

 

See they should have left qualifying alone! Change the rules to make merc have to run their current clutch setup! Results haven't changed but it has made things more exciting in the process

 

I caught some of the race in between autocrossing yesterday, so that made it a fun day for me! Today reading every post in this thread has been fun to re-live the race a bit, and see both sides of several of the issues going on.

Having said that, holy crap folks! Rooting for your team or driver is great, arguing the merits of how Haas built their car is great; I'm just not a fan of the personal attacks...let's save it for beating Mercedes!

Other highlights: Sir Frank never comes out in the press like the Bernie's and Ron's, so he's always got my respect for that, but I wish Williams would get their act together. Always funny seeing their livery without the "alcohol" on it in Bahrain!

Grosjean/Haas in 5th! Way to go! Hey, it's allowed under the rules, so more power to them!

I'd like Alonso to get a drive in a great car too, maybe McLaren will be a regular points scorer this year, it's still early.

If you didn't like the race or turned it off or give up on Ferrari this year already, I don't see how you can call yourself an F1 fan. What else are you going to do, watch the Formula E?

To be fair, Ham was trying to push on Raikonnen at least a bit, while Rosberg was on autopilot...

 

The list is fastest laps, not average laps, so I'm guessing Rosie's fastest would be a pushing lap, as was Elton and everyone else, so the damage made little difference to his time, and comments by merc are almost certainly ego stroking

 

Did not record qualifying...didn't miss it. The race lineup was no surprise.

Saw the start and lack of start for Vettel. Hammy had another bad start and yes there was contact.

Then l fell asleep. Woke up with 10 laps to go. Yawn.

Saw the finish but none of the post race...didn't miss it.

Had a nice nap.

So considering you didn't see anything of the race, how can you possibly comment if the race was any good or not?

Would you not have gotten the point across just as well, and even found a more receptive audience, without that in bold?

Must you be so abrasive? It's a legitimate area of discussion to query what the team and pundits are saying. If we accepted everything they say without question there'd be very little to discuss.

To be honest I thought that was by far one of the better races in the past couple of years. Now I know that isn't saying much as the F1 bar is set painfully low BUT this race was still a good watch.

 

I was thinking more about the qualifying and how it is being blamed on the length of time it takes to refuel. With the inability to fuel quickly, which is such BS, I wonder if the old way would be a drag also. Perhaps it's the cars and not the format?

These super times will be drastically affected by the added weight of more fuel but if you take low fuel you still may not have time to come back in and splash and dash.

Sorry Phil, but you're exactly the type of 'fan' I'm referring to here - Unless you're miserable (or asleep!), it all sucks.

IMO, it was a pretty darn good race. Lots of passing all down the field. Haas fighting way above their weight. Even Manor making a little progress.

I really don't understand why you follow it. (Or not, as you claim to sleep thru it.)

It was a good race, no doubt about it, and if not for Seb's blout out it would have been an amazing race!!! We're in the fight boys, sooner or later lady luck will favour us, we will give merc a run for their money!!!

Glad to see that the Mediums didn't go as long as Merc thought it would compounded with the damage on Hamilton's car allowed Kimi to hold onto 2nd place. The fact that Hamilton could reel in Kimi on softs from a 1x seconds gap to a single digit gap until his tires fell off speaks VOLUMES on Merc's superior pace.

Folks who still think Ferrari and Merc are even in "contention" with each other need to take a closer look. This was also covered on Sky post-race and with the limited amount of tokens left at Ferrari, it is unlikely for them to be able to out-develop Merc.

I can't wait to watch a race where the action is happening up front rather than in the back...

 

It's interesting to see how a new team (HAAS) can get their strategy right, and see how an established team (Williams) can screw it up time and time again! Massa was second at one point and ended up barely in the points because the car performed poorly on mediums, and they were slow to realize this....again!

 

+1 and Bottas was going to be an easy pass no matter, with or without Williams' tactical failures!

 

I am not fully convinced that HAAS had the right tire strategy and 5th also had something to do with other teams questionable strategy. The HAAS has the pace which was totally unexpected by all teams but if they had run mediums on the second stint and returned to S compound Romain might have had a podium. The HAAS had pace on every compound imo.

 

Haas is unexpectantly very strong! Finally, I'm glad that there is an American competitive team on the grid.

 

Agreed and I would like to think their involvement is more positive than negative.

 

And so am I. I always like an underdog.

Haas has started very high compared to the last newcomers in F1.

I will be following that team with interest.

One thing though; I suspect Guttierez will be the weakest link ...

 

+1 a perfect #2 for Grosjean, and Gutierrez will not be replacing Kimi

 

Based upon his crappy luck this season or compared to the newbies who got lucky? A McLaren actually finished a race!!!

He did show last season that he has the egg's.
