I'm afraid the two cannot be separated if you want real results. Like I said originally none of these cars had a good functioning AC system when new. But you can of course make it run as it it originally did. Perhaps that's best. That Facebook link is a way to get in contact with him should you desire to.

    Best of luck.

    Hi,
I have Mike's S1 working good. There are Two evaporators, one in each quarter panel. The fan in the front is for the heater.
You can email me at [email protected]

That setup for the Ser. I appears more than strange to me, no evaporator in the front/dash? Makes really good sense ..... *looool*. One more reason to be be happy with a Ser. II ... :D.

Thanks for reaching out with contact info. I have recently joined the yahoo group as well but haven't spent much time navigating it. So far, my understanding of the system is correct with the A/C fans in the rear. They are coming on but at a very low speed. I'm going to trouble-shoot the switch first.

    Hi,
I'm afraid it's not as easy as just the switch. A small example is that the evaporators that fit in the quarter panels vent into the rocker...the hole in the rocker panel was huge compared to the evaporator outlet so the bottom of the seats were getting most of the air conditioning!!! The series one had one alternator that was low output. When you think that you have to have the fan for the condenser, 2fans for the evaporators and let's say your cooling fans are on for the engine...that is sucking so much power that they decide to put very low amp motors for the evaporators. As for what were they thinking about by not having evaporator in the front the idea that Bertone had was To make a "pleasant environment" for the occupants by not having air blow into their face but to have air flowing around them. Air condition air comes from the rocker panel up around the door glass. There are four Outlets that come out above your head from the C-pillars to cool the hot air at the top.
First let me say that just getting the system back to its original condition will do absolutely nothing as far as keeping the car cool on a warm day.
Secondly, the S1 air conditioning can be made to function quite well if you upgrade All of the components.
Here are some of the things that I changed: Alternator to a GM 105 amp, Condenser now has ducting and a high-output fan, Running a Sanden compressor, System now runs a 134 refrigerant, System now has a high low pressure switch, Evaporator box is now sealed and sheet metal added to the rocker to seal evaporator case to rocker,Higher amp Motors turning half inch longer squirrel cage fans, Blower switch cleaned and really added to 3rd speed to run full power, And air deflectors added to roof Outlets to direct air.
My opinion of the unusual air conditioning system of the S1 is I like it. Bertone was a company that would venture out to try something new. Mike's is the only S1 that I know of that the air conditioning does work and it works well. I hope that you will have the next one.

Just dug out a photo, THIS is what it must look like, if authentic and original ;) :D.

This is exactly how they look now, because the seat backs in my Espada have been dyed in verde scuro, matching the new leather of the rest of the interior. :D

My goal is to not necessarily have high functioning A/C rather just have the original system function as it should (lacking it may be). Currently, I believe the blower is only running on the lowest and middle settings, hence my suspicion of a switch problem. Air flow distribution seems to be working properly, the system holds refrigerant, and the condensor and radiator fans are functional.

Guy's, maybe you could look at my post in the Jarama thread about fuel smell/venting in the trunk and post your thoughts. Thanks.

    Hi,
My contention is is that the air conditioning system on the S1 never worked from the factory. Jay Leno's S1 before he ever owned it was taken back to the factory early in its life and converted to an S2 dash and air conditioning system.
If you do decide to drive your car I would recommend a few things at least.
    1. Delco alternator that fits and puts out 100 Plus or minus. This would give you 13 volts Plus at idle. Also to remember to double up the wiring From the alternator to the post on the right side rear of the engine compartment. You need the air conditioning fan to blow as strong as possible at the condenser. Check the high pressure on your air conditioning as you will see if you are running too high of a head pressure due to weak standard fan.
    2. Take the evaporator boxes out and seal them well. Seal the evaporator boxes to The Rocker. There is so much air escaping that you are pushing all the air under the rear seats and nothing out of the outlets.
    3. I understand how you feel that if you had your fan switch working on high then things would be okay but that's not really the case.
    4. These are really small things that will give you big benefits.

It is supposed to be the 16th built Espada, VIN 7048.

But I doubt that this might justify the asking price in view of the condition and considerable expenses to come for saddle soap etc. :D.

Seems to origin from the "Beverly Hills Car Club" (see rear license plate holder), an US dealer for exotics in äh average condition. Would be interesting to know what they had asked ...

The dealer offering the car seems to be a normal used car dealer, who otherwise has no exotics, but more or less modern and ordinary cars in a price bracket of sub 15k€, insofar somewhat unusual.

You can tell it's an early one because of the operating side vent windows. When I was first shopping for mine I saw a very similar once except it had a piss poor quickie white paint job and a black interior. That one looks brown to me? It was already sold though and was soon off to Germany. I met the former owner later on and he cautioned me about what a mess the car had been. He's on Fchat. It could be that car I suppose as the listing says black interior but it really looks like brown to me? The interior wasn't quite that bad either.

Here is the related link: 1971 Lamborghini Espada Coupe for sale #1813620 | Hemmings Motor News

From a brief look at the photos it seems that this car is one of the nicer ones, if not one of the really good ones. A few details are "incorrect", but not worth mentioning and easy/cheap to get right by occasion.

Main "issues" in my eyes are the rear speakers and the radio. But one can live with that or get it right. More important is that the car apparently has not been messed up on a low budget.

    Cheers, Bernhard

    With respect to this: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144537133-post4365.html

I have now had the black U-shaped part made new using 3D printing. Looks great, I will post a photo in the next days.

Many thanks to Bernard Voslamber and Konrad Viehrig 7 Jahre 3D-Druck Erfahrung - 3D Druck-Service Berlin, great work!

I also have the .STL file and I am happy to share it by whatever way. With this file you can go to your local 3D shop and have it made, provided that they offer high resolution printing. The file is about 14 MB large.

    Cheers, Bernhard

I believe that's the chicken s**t Espada sold at auction? They left the "farmyard dirt" on it for the auction ...But I thought it sold for about twice that amount? A member here says he got screwed over by the auction house on that one.
