When viewed from straight on I think the rear of the 430 looks God-awful. 360 with a rear Challenge grille looks much better and a 355 more-so.

In terms of looking at the 3 cars straight on from the front, i think the opposite. The 430 looks wider and more aggressive, were as the 355s look great but not as compared to the 430/360s. But 355 spiders with the roof down from the front looks better than the other two 355 models. IMO of course.

Maybe i should have said almost everything about ferrari that i know is ridiculous, i do agree about most of the things you said on looks and experience and if i didnt i would own a 430 only. All of the things i said are for me, for others maybe not.

My opinion is the only thing better than one ferari is two. All models i think have something to give and this has been my experience.

As I read this I am not seeing anything terribly helpful to the 355 owners for simply and quickly adding performance to your cars, so here goes my take based on several local cars experience. Headers - Fabspeed or Goth's along with Hyperflows or replacement high flow cats (installed inside stock shells if you like), modified bypass valve - take a look at Goth's version done for Alex's Berlinetta. These changes alone will ramp you up to about 350-360 rwHP on the Dynapak (About 400 HP gross). Other dynos will have different results. Plus, when the bypass opens you could get a burst of power that will chirp the tires in 2nd. These are rough numbers but close. Goth can chime in a bit more.

Sure, not much to argue about there, but is 30 hp going to really scratch that itch? 30 HP probably won't even allow the F355 to run with the 360, much less a 430 or 458?

There are significant gains to be had with normally aspirated 355 intake and exhaust mods ..... with a proper approach, one can free up around 40HP to the hubs with limited drama ..... which is well over 50 @ the crank ......... off hand, F355Bob is easily in that neighborhood and AVMotorsport is well on the way ...... :)

I used to be a huge forced induction aficionado and have added a lot of HP, to many engines over many years that way ...... it is a sure fire method ..... but there is something bewitching about freeing up naturally aspirated HP .... it requires finesse, a lot of analysis ...... and patience ..... all of which I have grown to appreciate as time goes on ....

A 355 on equal tires can run with a 360 as-is, so with 30hp it will probably be a little quicker. 430 or 458 is a much different story.

I agree with Gothspeed. Significant horsepower gains with the headers and air intake.

The best gain is in weight reduction. The doors have 50 pounds each in them. The front and rear bumpers are heavy. The front hood and rear lid are really heavy. You could save 400 lbs or more going carbon fiber.

The interior seats are made of lead weight.

The dash has metal bars behind it.

    I know of a racing 355 that weights 2600 lbs. 2600 lbs and 400 hp is a fast 355.

Maybe more of a gain on 5.2 cars with intake and headers due to different header/y-pipe design and single maf.

At 327rwhp with stock headers and induction (2.7, but with y-pipe/cats/capristo) I would be very surprised to see a 40hp gain with changes to those parts.

You guys are really looking a gift horse in the mouth. ;) Ferrari left less ponies for you guys to find on the factory floor than us 348 owners. Still, 8-10% gain in HP is huge, IMO for a highly stressed, 5-valve, high rpm 3.5 liter mill from Maranello. Heck, I'd love that. 312 stock SS HP > 343 HP target for my 348?! Heaven. We're on the prowl for a bit more than that, but come on, what do you guys want?! You guys stock are already putting out more than 100 HP (107 really) per liter. We'd kill for that!

Maybe 10 more hp and 350lbs less curb weight while keeping close to stock appearance :)

What parts did you have made in CF? (And does he still have the molds?)

Did he do the 355 front bumper splitter? I do need a new one, previous owner hurt them.

Correct. 355s are already on par with 360 performance wise for all but the best drivers.
If you add 30-50hp to a 355 it would definitely be "faster" than a stock 360, but of course still nowhere near a 430 / 458.

As for weight loss, the easiest (and cheapest) way to lose 50-100lb is for the fat bastard behind the wheel to stop eating so much.

    :D

You need to talk to him about the molds. I bought the front hood, rear lid, and both bumpers from him.

    Thanks, I just emailed him.

Not sure about losing 100lbs Steve. At 62lbs I don't think I could press the clutch pedal anymore :D

LOL. Hey, CF seats really save a bunch of weight. Also, dump your sound systems. There's your 100 lbs.

Guy named Kip did the front splitter. You can call Bill at Speedworks in Orlando. He knows about the mold.
