Agreed, once you are inn,the Countach is roomier than most people think, also the Supercar feeling is there more so than anything else.Drove a TR for more than 3 years as a daily driver, very functional, but not the supercar you expect, love it,but the Countach is soo mutch more in every way, that being said,if a yellow TR pops up at the right price , i might bend over.

    The posted caption reads:

"Following a beautiful Lamborghini Countach and it's thunderous V12 around Bruntingthorpe. She might be old but she's still got it."

I finally received the finished artwork from Steve Anderson and I must say the air-brush paint detail is superb, and I'm grateful effort he put into it.

The only thing I was going to change was the boxed exhaust muffler with its much more horizontal extrusion of pipes, but, this was taken from an old image of the car, so we left it alone.

Before I frame the artwork, I hope to get Messrs Mimran, Balboni et al to sign it.

As an aside, if anyone is wondering, that crankshaft in the background has nothing to to with this car, its a keepsake given to me by Bob Wallace which he removed from the engine of the ex-Shah of Iran's Miura SV 4870 after he rebuilt the engine. Its marked by his name "Wallace" by the machinist who manufactured a new one to Bob's specifications, and is of sentimental value to me as it was handed over to me by the late great man himself. He did so with his famous economy of words by uttering the immortal singular one: "Junk".

Excerpts from the AUTOCAR magazine perspective of Superbike vs Countach.

"To settle the arguments, we teamed up with Performance Bikes magazine for a back-to-back test. It was to provide the very latest state of the art Japanese superbike, a 125bhp 1987 Yamaha FZR 1000, while we prevailed upon Lamborghini importer Portman Garages to come up with a Countach. The venue was Bruntingthorpe, a disused military airfield that boasts a runway a full two miles long. Our own Leitz Correvit test gear would produce the figures for the car, while Leitz UK’s John Grist came along with a version specially adapted to fit the bike.

Having arranged for the massive circus of vehicles, drivers, photographers, technicians and support crew to rendezvous at Bruntingthorpe, we were then at the mercy of the weather. Our prayers were answered though, because the day dawned bright and calm. Rain was forecast for later, so we set about getting the acceleration figures without delay — photographers can work in the rain but tyres won't.

The techniques for getting a car and a bike off the line in a hurry are very different The Countach responds best if the clutch is fed in very quickly, not quite dropped, with the revs at around 5000 — just on the torque peak. The fat P7s spin but grip again within 10 yards a couple of sharp corrections of the wheel to counter the tail going sideways and you're forced back into the thinly-upholstered seat as the red line comes up all too quickly at 58mph.

The Countach has a dog-leg first gear, and since the gears themselves have to be massive to cope with all that torque, the change to second is a little ponderous. As soon as the clutch is home, the pressure on the shoulder blades begins again. Sixty miles an hour isn't quite available in first, so the 4.9 seconds it takes from a standstill includes that slow first gearchange. Second takes the car to 80mph, which arrives before most quick cars have reached 60, and with the much quicker second to third shift behind us the Countach is doing 100mph only 10.6 seconds after leaving the line.

We notch fourth just before the Correvit shows 120, and this gear takes us to over 150mph. One hundred and fifty miles an hour and you change into top — that in itself is quite an experience. Once in fifth, the Lambo is still accelerating rapidly, and top speed comes up with the rev counter just nudging 7300rpm - 178mph. Even flat out on Bruntingthorpe's far from billiard table surface, the Countach feels at home. The roar of the wind and the bellow from that marvellous V12 rules out polite conversation, but the car feels supremely stable and composed."

Like a lot of owners, I have been trying to track history and detail for my particular example. Probably more so than most as I brought my car at auction and not a lot of paperwork came with the car.

I've been fortunate in that I got ahold of quite a lot of detail and even the original warranty book. My car spent all its life in Holland prior to myself purchasing and importing into the UK. The Lamborghini Club Netherland have been a great help and through them, a lot of info has come my way. Cheers to them!

Also, the Internet and forums such as this one are a great resource and I'm thankful to those who contribute and share their knowledge, which way outshines mine.

Whilst searching and surfing, I came across some old pictures of my car at a 1988 Ferrari event in Holland (previously posted on this site) I got in contact with the blog owner, We'll call him George, as that is his name :) and we've been talking. George has been a keen motoring blogger / follower since the mid 80's. I asked him if he had more pictures and he advised that he may have some video footage. But will need to take a look through the archives to see what there is. I was somewhat excited about this prospect. Anyway, its been a while, but George has come up with the goods and produced, at a very modest fee, considering he spent 6 hours doing the production, some video footage. This comprises two events, the aforementioned Ferrari meeting held in 1988 and another meeting at a racetrack in 1989. Both of which, the car is with its first owner, Mr. Francois Koopal.

So, I'm rather pleased. This is great for the car's history records and gives me an indication of aspects such as an alarm system being fitted by the first owner. I don't think there will be many owners who have such early original footage of their car. I'm very fortunate in this respect.

Anyway, its on Youtube, link below. Hope you find it of interest as its a bit of a time capsule. Check out the fashion etc.

That's my girl! It was a great day at Bruntingthorpe even though she was running a little rough. I came in after the first run to discover I'd nicked the queue of people waiting to go in the ariel atom, and only 7 of them had a run before my brakes gave in.....
done the charity event twice, and whilst its fun, the organisers have a standard donation of just £5 for a lap, which wouldn't cover my fuel.....

More parts landed on my office floor for me to refurbish!

Just when you think you've finished...

3 circular vents and 2 square vents for the dashboard.

Raymond I can see that you are pretty handy with electrical tape.

This is awesome! What a nice video to have of the car back in the period. Clearly your car found a great home with you. BTW you can delete the "s" in the link to embed it in the thread like so:

    100% original!
When I bought the car in 2001 with 11'800km the only non original parts were the painted door sill panels, looked awful, glossy and had hair inserts, that's why I had them redone.

    Thanks!

We'll have this faithfully re-produced as it will not survive removal so the spare-wheel can be refinished.

You can detach it with rubbing alcohol-spiritus since that will only remove the glue.
