Finally closed a deal and pending PPI it will be picked up friday. I am very excited, as its my first Ferrari! !ts a 90 TS with 17K on it. It has service records going back to 2000, but nothing before that. (it had ~5K miles in 2000) I do know it was in a dealer in 1993 and the 470 and 480 recalls completed. Clean Carfax.

Downside it has had 3000 Miles since the last major. 11 years ago (At Algar per included documentation) . Its had a couple oil changes/brake service ect. documented since showing at least a couple hundred miles a year. Its always been a northeast car and stored in a heated garage I am told, but no way to verify that. the car looks very clean, stickies have been done. New o2's and Cat ECUs were done at the last major as well.

I feel better buying the car without the major so I can make sure the cam drive has been replaced with a ball bearing and tensioner pads/ check cam drain holes..ect.

Overall the car presents itself very well, has all factory paint a couple minor chips on the bumper and looks to have been cared for. Minor Driver and passenger Bolster Wear. The car gives me no reason to think the PPI/ with compression check will have surprises.

What say my F-chat brothers? :)

Congrats! My car was 11 years and ~1500 miles since the previous major. I drove it gingerly when it arrived to just get a baseline in my head of any issues. I didn't drive it again until I pulled the motor and replaced the belt. I figured that the PPI would drive it and document any issues and if the belt snapped, then it wasn't really my problem. :)

No matter how much research I have done, this proves I have more to learn. I did not know this!

Thanks, Hopefully I can finally be a contributing member of F-chat.

Hoping there is nothing to be learned by the PPI

Nice car, looks like it's a rare one that hasn't been mucked about with. Still has the original 'black' (and even sculpted version) horsey on the rear! Nice to see those black lowers too...good man!

Thanks, yes, all stock. What do you mean by "sculpted version"?

A black horse on the rear is correct for your car, but there are two types, some of the black horses are a simple flat plate, others are like yours, thin metal stamped into a sculpted 3d shape.

Ah, I understand. I did not realize there were two versions. When did they switch to chrome? or are all the chrome ones replacements?

*edit*- so does this mean it went chrome in 93 or larger and chrome in 93 but was chrom in 91-92?

Changes for 1993 to 1995 were the addition of the G prefix to the model name and some small styling updates - chromed 'Cavallino' front-grille and a larger, chrome Cavallino horse badge on the rear grille panel.

Others may have more info but I think GTS was chrome on front and rear, prior to that it was none at all on front, black on rear (some flat, some sculpted....perhaps whatever was in the parts bin on the day?).
