Brilliant - I am trying to remember 2005 rules - what determined the running order in Quali? Results from last race or position in championship?
From Wiki: "At the start of 2005 the sessions were held on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Lap times from both sessions were counted to give the overall aggregate position.[6] From the 2005 European Grand Prix onwards, the Sunday morning session was dropped for a single run on Saturday afternoon having proved unpopular with drivers, teams and broadcasters. The running order was the reverse of the previous race result !
Made me think of this one - enjoy [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrE_ocKlZOc]Commitment in a V10[/ame]
Oh man, did they ever sound great! I suspect his lap would be disallowed today; all four off at T1..... Cheers, Ian
Spot on mate, you're assessment is on the money. Love the commitment at T3, the sound..... hands full of opposite lock. F1 at its best.
I remember being disappointed when the V10 was mandated and the V12's went away--they just didn't have the song of the 12. The V10's sound pretty fine to me now--glorious.
Yes indeed!...... Too many "flippy-flappy" aero bits was the most often heard argument. So the FIA banned 'em.... Beyond what is now a pretty standard survival cell, I reckon give 'em three boxes; 1 - Nose thru front axle centerline. 2 - There to the rollhoop. 3 - There on back. Specify the min & max size of said boxes & let 'em at it. Cheers, Ian
+1 Was never a fan of aggregating anything in qualy. Low fuel, one lap, balls out is what qualy's all about to me. Q2 (and sometimes Q3) pretty much delivers that today. Cheers, Ian
