As many of you know, Ford is choosing their owners for the 2017 Ford GT because they want people to actually drive the car, not just keep it in the garage and sell it for profit.

This man is a retired race car driver (raced a Shelby GT350 back in the day), is an original owner of a 2005 Ford GT, and an all around class act. Hopefully he gets it.

Good for him! This is sounding like a political campaign. He would get my vote for trying.

Cool guy and hope he gets one.

but dont know how ford responds to his modding of it.

    Might be considered a negative

Ford Racing exhaust, Ford Racing pulley/ tune. Custom paint on the wheels, and subtle pin striping probably wont be much of a negative.

They wouldn't care anyways. All the Ford GT engineering guys I know have always been pleased over the years that people modified the cars.

No that is not correct. Ford only said the first 250 road cars will go to buyers who can afford the $400K price tag and have shown their abiding passion for the Blue Oval. No different than Ferrari's ego logic.

    I still want one though.

He is correct. Amongst a number of criteria, Ford prefers the cars go to people who will drive them.

Well I think we all know we can blame the speculative investors who will snatch these up to see similar returns as the 200X Ford GT's. I applaud Ford for vetting buyers but people can sound sincere and nothing will stop investors from purchasing these in my opinion.

I am just happy Ford reintroduced a new GT. Hope I get to see one out in the wild some day.

Saw one at the NY auto show. Looked like a big car and although it did look better in-person it did not excite me like the '05 version. Silhouette looks flat, nose looks like crap

No one is going to drive these things, for cripes sake they jacked the price over list on the last one and will do the samething with this one. It's yours for 400K, no wait 700K.

I have almost 50k miles on my '05 FGT. I drive my CGT also. And my 50 yr old Miura. Drove it a 100 miles last weekend. Given the opportunity to own a new FGT, I'd drive it. I'd put it on track even, in the right environment.

Fantastic, that's what they were built for. Would love to drive a Miura one day. Original Ford GT & Miura are 2 of my all-time favorite cars. You're a lucky man. Enjoy them all.

Good to know that someone realizes the truth.

How far do I need to drive?

I have to agree. I saw the race and street version at the Daytona 24. They are cool cars, but didn't do it for me as much as I thought they would.

IMHO, the nose looks better than the new NSX, but that is the styling trend du jour and will hopefully pass soon. A black car tends to best camouflage any trendy "plastic" gingerbread.

Ford is selling them at sticker, more or less directly to customers. Ford will pick you and the dealer merely handles the paperwork and delivery.

It would be a travesty if the guy in the video didn't get one.

Application is live. Sounds like you better own historically significant Fords, do business with Ford, and have some motorsport presence/career if you want to have a good looking application.

What's the "Series" option that's coming soon? Gulf scheme or something?
