Yeah funny they don't show more pics huh? Typical for them though it seems. Looks to me like the typical lost bank/cat fire. You can see around the driver's side exhaust how that area seems to be about the worst of the fire. The front fender and passenger door burns are strange though. Maybe gas lines burned and spilled fuel spread fire up that way?

There are actually pics from the engine compartment. You have to scroll down inside the picture window and not on the scrollbar of your browser.
I suspect the car suffered fire from the outside. Parked next to a burning car? Workshop/showroom/garage fire? SoCal forest fire? Vandalized?

    Best Regards
    Martin

Reading the ad the car spent some time in California with the owner, that would account for the side markers, he then took it to New Zealand and it's now in Australia.

I've felt the market in the US has been softening for a couple of months and this is further proof... I wonder if Europe is softening too? I know many dealers were buying last year and may be sitting on inventory. Might soon be a buyers market

Looks like it just sold! However, none of their 308s are in really nice shape and seem similarly priced. 1985 Ferrari 308GTSI Quattrovalvole -

I think its too early to say. The car listed for sale, didn't mention mileage, looked average condition at best, interior was a bit tired, and missing shroud/diaper around exhaust, engine compartment not quite stock and not that clean. Without better photos and mileage...hard to say, it could have been priced correctly...or too low since it sold. None of their other 308s appear to be in great condition and are similarly priced.

I had thought things were softening, but I've seen several dealers mark cars up for spring or bring in cars that have relatively strong prices. So I think we will have to see if the cars sell or just sit once spring and nice weather are truly here.

I thought I saw the car listed above from gullwing had 60k.
Also saw no mention of tools and other items and the car looked to be average at best.
I think $56k is a strong price for the car mentioned assuming that's what it sold for.

Steve Matchet's 83' QV sold for 68,275 with the buyers premium. Not bad, wish it was 100k, but not bad.

There were a few 2v injected cars that sold at this auction also, full results should be up tomorrow on their site. I think the silver one went for $56k without buyers premium, that's pretty strong for that model year, nothing special example. Hopefully some warmer weather in the northern parts of the country will continue the upward trend of 308 prices :)

81' silver gtsi with 64k miles with metric wheels, and the tail lights reversed sold for $63,800! Went no reserve. Kind of looks like it could be the same car from the Hagerty video on YouTube...

83' gtsi QV red 36k miles slightly modded, Steve Matchet's car sold for $68,200

    http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?SaleCode=FL16&ID=r0051&Order=runorder&feature=&collection=&grouping=&category=

81' GTB red, can't see the miles in the pics, metric spare, valve covers painted black like Matchet's car, sold for $63,250!?

    http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?SaleCode=FL16&ID=r0051&Order=runorder&feature=&collection=&grouping=&category=

Overall pretty strong numbers for the 308s. Thought Matchet's QV might sell for more, but maybe people didn't like the mods? Looked to be a really nice car.

I would have thought the GTB would have fetched more compared to the GTSs amongst the other two valve cars.
Seems even with the late winter lull and the auction commissions pretty good numbers with exception of the 54K car

79' GTS Euro sold at Barrett Jackson Palm beach today for $83,600. 30k miles, only one tail pipe? Didn't say anything about being a dry sump car, they prob would have mentioned that if it were one. Were there any single tip exhaust cars that were not carter secco's? It has the euro signal lights up front, USA spec running lights at the back, and reversed tail lights too, anything is possible with a euro I guess :). Good price if it's not a dry sump

Not a dry sump car. In fact, no GTS, Euro or otherwise, was dry sump.

But that oil cap on the valve cover should give it away. :)

What's with the exhaust then? Haven't seen the single tip on a non dry sump, is that after market? Would seem to be a big pain to modify (or source) a "mail slot" to accommodate the single tip exhaust. Was that a factory option? Thanks!

    This helps the price.

"brand-new clutch and four rebuilt brake calipers. All four carburetors were rebuilt at the same time, and the engine bay was given a full and thorough detailing to original specifications. While everything was out of the car, the air conditioning compressor, starter and alternator were rebuilt."

A while back I was shopping for a Euro GTB on all the usual european car sites. The Euro GTS carb cars were in fact single tip exhaust, single dizzy, front turn signal repeaters only, no fasten seatbelt light on dash, and wet sump. One was on sale in California about 6 months ago, as I recall, white, just like this BJ red one. Other differences probably as well.
