Anyone had an F1 throw out bearing seal leak?

I too would like to know.

 

I had this on my last car. I was changing the clutch anyway so fitted a Hill bearing at the same time. The issue isn't uncommon and if you leave it the car will leave you stranded at some point down the line.

 

My 360 F1 had a damaged (pinched out of shape) blue seal that was not yet leaking. We fitted new seals. We were looking for an F1 problem that turned out to be a sensor. Yeh if it's leaking it might go a while or you might stop very soon. I would do it now and maybe the clutch. Good thing is with the g.box backed off you can get the clutch out and check the condition and plate thickness against a new one. Mine went back in, it was fine. Only 4k miles old.

 

I have the same problem but I'll drive the car until I need to replace the clutch. Replacing the throwout bearing without the clutch is a waste of money, same labor cost.

 

You're dumping F1 fluid compromising your whole F1 system, clutch, e-diff...carry on.

 

There's no dumping fluid, learn to read correctly lol

 

Sorry, starting to leak then. Could still get bad fast.

 

It could also be the rear main seal?

I had that exact problem. I figured I should replace them as per Ferrari of Tampa suggested because it's on a permanent record there and I knew I was gonna trade the car in the near future. I did not replace the clutch. If you pm me with your email I'll send you my bill with all of the charges.

This is why F1 have a bad reputation. People ignore warning signs then get mad having to get a tow truck. Then it is all Ferrari's fault.

 

yes, it is a 3 pedal. I did top off the brake reservoir but I don't drive the car often, maybe 1000 miles a year so I never know how quick....

 

My 3-pedal 360 has had this for a few months. Keeping an eye on things with an intention of getting the clutch replaced this year. You'll feel it in the pedal when the fluid gets too low and can't maintain pressure.

Starting to think the question should be... "who hasn't had a throw-out bearing leak" ?

 

My car is 2002 manual 6-speed gearbox and i replaced the throw-out bearing (and clutch, no wear, just preventive maintenance) in 2012. After that the car was perfect...

In the last 3 months the brake light was flickering (I thought bad sensor) and eventually I lost clutch pedal...

I just made it home when I lost clutch... No clutch action, dead pedal... Impossible to shift gear...

My mechanic came to my house and he did something weird... He depressed the clutch about 50 times fast and we got some clutch action...

I drove the car to his shop...

I asked him to replace all brake fluid and remove any air from brake/clutch system...

Next day the clutch worked almost perfectly...

My mechanic believed that I would be back soon to replace the seal..

It's been 1 month and no problem whatsoever...

I keep track of the brake fluid... Do drop yet...

Maybe I manage to prolong the life of the throw-out bearing...

Poor Ferrari design...

 

Hey Curt, my 3 pedal also did this....carry a 10mm wrench to field bleed the clutch to get you home....but you should replace it soon....My clutch was still fine but had 35K on it so we did the whole thing while in there...
