Agreed. The proviso being you cease making personal posts like this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144622210-post2434.html and DD-bashing, rambling, unintelligible, trolling posts like this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144622223-post2435.html
Now you have a blueprint to modify your own posts and bring them in line with being respectful, positive & neutral. In other words, practice what you preach.
No bashing, just a good old comment reg carb linkages in general,i have had plenty of those over the years in all shapes and forms, nothing personal, i dont even know you, have no opinion reg your inteligence what so ever, what i do know is you are a far better writer than me. Remember no punches below the belt. After all we are talking Cars, not wifes, come to think about it,ha ha
I don't think my posts are personal or off-topic at all, they are all essentially about the DD (the thread's topic), and I think they are the perhaps closer to the truth than you want to hear. When people whine & b!tch about something endlessly, is always belies insecurity, so why not simply appreciate? As regards my "inteligence", or more importantly, my knowledge about the subject-matter, why don't you do a little research about my background, experience and published materials, before you come on here and disparage for no reason? Again, you are spending an awful lot of time in the DD thread, considering your usual stance of disparaging the DD in favor of the FI. The fact of the matter is, the more the comparison is drawn between the 2 variants, the more their attributes are highlighted, so it serves the purpose of this thread, and I'm happy to engage in discourse on the subject. If you are going to post here, it should be factual, respectful, and most importantly, useful. The latter is important or you're simply wasting bandwidth - example, your last post, no useful information.
The Nero/Nero with red piping ex-Bentley museum DD is GLA12995 I've just learned. That's one car away from our GLA12997. Useful information. Image Unavailable, Please Login
SO I have a question that has been asked of me several times in the last few days, since I do not FOR SURE know the answer I have said as much... Maybe someone else has the answer.. Are the DD cars that are here in the USA, the early ones, as I recall its been stated about 14-16 of them.......here correctly or with issue. If I am not mistaken, if the car(s) is over 25 years old, there is no restriction to its importation to the USA. So I don't think there is an issue importing DD cars now of this age....however, what is the status of the ones that landed here PRIOR to the 25 year rule.
I think you are right, if the car is over 25 years old, there is no restriction to its importation to the USA. As regards the cars that came here earlier, the understanding is that @ 13 cars were legalized by Joe Nastasi, although he tells me there were more than that. One assumes private importers did the necessary compliance work, and if they did, they'd have the necessary paperwork in hand to support this. I think you have to look at it on a car-by-car basis.
Since you are on the DD thread, and since you say you want to keep the discussion about cars, is there anything factual, useful, or even just interesting about the DD that you can contribute to this thread? Technical or historical text, illustrations, images? Anything at all?
There is no doubt both a the F/I and the DD are fantastic cars. My comments about either are simply about one being faster than the other. Id love to own a DD .
That car was FANTASTIC when I had it. We sold it to the owner in NJ and latter we facilitated the sale of it again a new home in Florida...
I believe you had the foresight to bring it up-to-date mechanically, and many of them do eventually require serious attention as they are essentially 30 years old. That said, once you set them up they are not difficult to keep running sweetly, and as we can see our UK & European friends use theirs a lot.
QV DD vs. QV FI. The DD is more desirable simply based on economics (supply and demand) where one has to pay a premium of about $150-$200K to own one versus the FI version. This is not due to rarity, in fact there are more DD's than the FI variants. So why the variance in price than? Desirability. The carbs are virtually always favored over fuel injection especially as one's experience and taste evolves over time driving these great cars, irregardless if it's a CT or a BB. Just drive a Webered 12 cylinder CT or a BB and notice the sound at acceleration or at full song when all the butter flies are wide open, you can't replicate that with a injected car and that sound is amazing. Geno PS all the BS about the carbs being temperamental and hard to live with and the FI is less of a headache is nonsense.
No doubt the DD fetch a premium over the Fi,facts are facts, no question ,deal done,Drove my buddys 365 bb a few months back, carbed and beautiful ,sounded great, and actually ran cleaner and friendlier than i ever imagined, almost to nice, no Drama. Drove my Fi back to my house that same day,ænd the differēnce in trottle response and performance was absolutel amazing, i love the big mid engine Ferraris, i would love to have one next to the qv, but as far as thrill and adrenaline rush, they represent two different worlds, nothing to do with the dd, no need to make me cry, just great car experiense.
As far as "grey"market cars go, the easiest way to know what happened and if things were done is take the VIN in question to the NHTSA. They should have a record of it landing here and the date the DOT released the car after all the federalized work was done. I mean the fact that people where spending money and time to get the DD here when you could easily get a FI car speaks volumes. Think of all the headaches Tom Cruise went through with all of his 5000s cars!! (rainman)
