Hope that when the issue arrives you'll agree it was worth the wait… We've got some lovely photography to accompany Joe's story, and some great memories of the 288's development, too.

Thanks Chris, Webb Bland's photography is superb, and the subject matter is can't-miss stuff! Ive seen the photos and they do the car justice.

How does the handling compare with those tires?

Joe, in a post on this thread many moons ago, you mentioned this fuel system caution. Sorry to bring up such an old post but I had a couple of questions.

First, when you posted that, what length of time were you referring to with "great periods of time"?

Second, what had you observed or heard about the fuel system that you were referring too as it relates specifically to the 288?

    Thanks.

    Hank

As with any 30-year-old car, if it hasn't been driven in a year, I'd have your authorized dealer check it over. The issues I'm referring to would be the same ones that occur with any similar vintage or older car. I'm speaking of routine maintenance.

Thanks for that clarification Joe. When you said "The fuel system in these cars" I thought you may have had some 288 GTO specific information beyond what applies to most cars of this age.

but it appears only one GTO has the red cloth inserts on the seats? Neat how both cars can be seen together in some of your pictures. Thanks!

Thanks. Actually, both had the red inserts. And they both looked outstanding. One was for sale by Autosport Designs, in Huntington, NY, where the open house (Ferraris and Coffee) was taking place. The other was privately owned and happened to stop by for the event –*which was outstanding, I must add.

Double rare as I believe the cloth was only ordered for less than 60 of the total production!

Thank you for the interior view.

Yes indeed, Long Island, NY. It was an official FCA Empire State Region event, hosted by Autosport Designs. But if you're in the neighborhood, you can always stop by AD and have a look around. Check out the NY section on the board (LI Bagel thread) for any upcoming events of note.

I think it surprised everyone to see TWO GTOs. No idea if that was pre-arranged or what, but the entire group on-hand was simply unreal!

    4. The pictures don't do it justice, the car, which I have always found to look awkward in pictures, is breathtaking when you are up close.
