What I really miss from Florida (went to college at UF) is a good grouper sandwich. Especially one with the cole slaw on top. 😋

Dinner was spaghetti with anchovy tomato sauce. Mater paste, add a bit of water, as much garlic and crushed red pepper as you can stand, little fresh cracked pepper, oregano, parsley. Simmer. Toss with spaghetti. A little parmesan cheese. Enjoy with red wine...T

Thanks. It was tasty and easy. You buy the zucchini that way or have one of those spiral slicers? I once had zucchini "spaghetti" at a restaurant, and it was great. Done up just like regular pasta. Tomato sauce, cheese, etc...T

Felt nostalgic today. Made Salisbury steak, some mushrooms, onions and gravy over mashed potato's. My great grand mother lived with us, she had her own suite and kitchen. She used to make it until around 1980. Developed Alzheimer's and stopped cooking. Born in 1900, so she cooked until around 80 years old. Most of her other items, Icelandic dishes, some very weird a grouse! Like liver based stuff (I hate liver) and fermented fishes, etc. Did make a donut like thing that I'm desperate for the recipe.

Looks yummy. Does the best beef in Canada come from Alberta? That's what I was told when I visited Calgary some years back...T

Typical yes. Alberta is known for cattle and oil...sound familiar?

I'm in Lethbridge Alberta right now just a skip away from Montana.

Yes, almost all beef comes from Alberta. Although we do have some cattle farming here, most is small production.

I was not a Texan when I visited, but the people I met in Calgary had a lot in common with people here in Texas...T

Spiral slicer called a veggetti which I purposely mispronounce EVERY time as vagina, to make my wife laugh or go insane (you pick the day!) ;)

Wife's traveling on biz, so I went all Iron Chef. Tonight's secret ingredient? Random leftovers in the fridge and freezer!

Trimmings (mostly the so-called chain) from carving our own filet mignon out of a prime whole beef tenderloin that the missus bought at Costco; sliced into strips like you might do for a stir fry. Fresh corn (random purchase by the MIL). Zucchini. Spanish onion. Herbs and spices. Brown and sautee. Serve on a corn tortilla. Top with a generous squirt of Tabasco sriracha.[IMG]

That burger looks tasty even over cooked! I've become sort used to BC over cooking burgers. I still enjoy more even a Red Robin burger in the U.S.

Leaning towards buying fresh ravioli and making pesto sauce.

Hit Costco for their packaged ravioli. But they only had the cheese filled, want the meat kind. Ended up getting a box of linguine dried pasta. A rotisserie chicken. Some shredded fresh parm cheese. Making chicken pesto linguine.

A good friend used to hold breakfast-for-dinner parties. No, we didn't wear jammies, in case you're wondering. They were a lot of fun. She made a mean egg casserole. Something like this.

Tonight was fish and chips at Wildwood Grill in Southlake at the Porsche club monthly social. Tasty. Forgot to snap a pic. Came with great parmesan fries. I'd bet money that they were done the right way, double fried...T
