You're my Black Wheels buddy. I love them despite that anti-black wheels trend in this thread.

I appears that the black wheels option for the tdf in rather matte than real gloss.

I indeed wanted to see them in gloss instead of matte.

Is it a special request ?

I have black matte speciale wheels on my Nero Daytona 458 Italia. I like the look. I'm splitting the difference with the f12... Dark painted (dark gray) gloss wheels.

I ordered glossy black through the dealership when I spec'ed out the speciale and it was a special request. I spec'ed the TDF at tailor-made and I'm not sure if it is a special option.

Beauty ist in the eye of the beholder! The issue with colour is that it really depends on where on the globe you live. In Dubai white just looks much better than in Europe because of the sunlight.

Black rims is just a fad spun off from aftermarket tuners. It can look really good. On a car with retro elements like the tdf the effect is detrimental to the whole statement the car makes. It fits better to a 458, 488 or even the LF.

The black option on the tdf which about half the cars at my dealer have has not impressed me. Looks better on the pictures than in reality. Makes the car look ragged. But maybe that was the intention.

    Agree with you BigThree!.

Seems no one is venturing a different rims color apart from black or silver - except Doktor elipinski with "gold"... I'm sure a grafite color tone to the rims (satin or opaco) would very much fit this car though!.

2:25 would indeed be impressive yet … impossible because now you are in the 458 GT3 zone on slicks. Best I'v done in my 458 Challenge is 2:30

2:42 is impressive nonetheless at Spa in a V12 front engine Ferrari built for use on the street. Also note there is traffic, he is on street tires and as I stated … he doesn't drive on the limit of what the car can do (and I don't blame him).

Smooth, secure driving, … fun to watch.

    Cheers,

    M

I don't think you can blanket statement that all black wheels are the devil's work:). On some specs it looks fantastic and on some it doesn't really suit. But that can be said with all the colours of wheels as the standard ones can look a bit underwhelming while the diamond cut ones are reminiscent of chrome/luxury as opposed to speed. But I have yet to see a really badly specced tdf.

Peter also has different wheels on his TDF tdf which I think look beautiful.

Absolutely Nelson, Peter has a "Grigio Corsa" (Special request) finish on his tdf wheels.

I want to see it on a Grigio Silverstone/Ferro tdf !!

Argento is a good colour on the car but I have never taken to the lateral stripe-just don't see it. Yes I appreciate the historical connotation but I think slavishly applying historical schemes is not necessarily a guarantee of success!

I agree. I'm not crazy about the vintage black stripe across the bonnet though.

I'm not a big fan of stripes, much less of historical stripes or liveries which don't really match most modern designs. HOWEVER, in this very case, the way that the transversal stripe links both CF bridge winglets (or however they're properly called) is kind of clever and not very bad looking. Not sure if I would like it in my hypothetical tdf, though.

I agree its clever but does it improve the look of the car aside from making it different in a questionable way?

Touché :D clever doesn't necessarily mean good looking. But have we come this far, I guess it's just personal preference. Similarly, additions don't necessarily improve looks (the "less is more" thing), but IMO this could also be held against the 3 vents over the rear arch or the slightly busy rear...

To those who believe stripes, historic or otherwise, are unnecessary and unholy, better look away now ;)

After much consideration, FRB is the final choice for the single stripe on my Argento Nurburgring tdf. Used my Argento Nurburgring 550 Maranello as test bed.

    Vive La France! :)

I like stripes running in the right direction. Great color combo too. Well done sir !
