    Hi all,

I recently purchased a Ferrari (clarion) Infotainment along with the rear parking camera option (part# 70003201). I've been searching the forum for DIY instructions to install the backup camera, however, with minimal luck.

Does anyone here have any detailed pics of their backup camera installation? Does the rear bumper have to come off? How do you get the cable into the passenger compartment? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Isi

I didn't DIY it but my installer used this camera in my 360: https://navtv.com/products/NTV-KIT562/camera-10.html

It mounts behind the license plate. Also as far as I know, the bumper didn't have to be removed since the wire is passed through one of the lights. It has to go though near the engine compartment so need to get wires heat shielded.

Got it from Amazon. Think it was $90. Works fine but you need at least the parking lights on to use it if you wire it as I did.

How much are those things? Are they plug and play or require wiring adaptors? My 430 has factory Bluetooth, can it use the factory prewired microphone?

Factory microphone works just fine, you just need to solder the plug on from the NZ502E

I recently installed the Clarion NZ502e along with the Clarion cc510 reverse camera. Here are my tips:

    - purchase the Ferrari bezel/surrond otherwise the unit won't fit (it's about £65), and also the GPS antenna adaptor if your car already has a GPS antenna installed. Otherwise attach the Clarion one.

    - definitely get the external mic and mount it near the sun visor. The internal mic is useless, people can't hear you.

    - get a usb hub, USB extension cable and an Apple Lightning cable to be able to connect both your USB stick and iphone.

    - monting the camera is easy, wiring is a bit tricky. First you need the head unit to know when you go in reverse so that it switches automatically the screen to reverse camera mode. To do this connect the purple wire in the back of the unit to the reverse gear relay behind the driver's seat (relay PSR2). The other 3 wires come from the camera. The yellow RCA wire goes to the corresponding yellow reverse camera input wire at the back of the head unit. The black wire is ground and goes onto the chasis. Now if you want the camera to be on/filming all the time (when the car is running, and you want to be able to look back by pressing the Camera button onto the screen), connect it to a switched accessory, i.e. the red wire that powers on the head unit. If you want to extend the life of the camera and only use it when reversing, connect the red wire to the purple wire. This way when you go in reverse the signal will power up the camera and tell the head unit to switch to reverse camera mode automatically.

-update the firmware to the latest version by downloading it from the Clarion website onto the microSD card. Fixed my problem not being able to play Bluetooth audio from my iPhone 6

I hope this helps and good luck!

Mine is wired to switched accessory so I can look back whenever I want. CCTV cameras are on all the time, so I'm guessing it should be fine being on whenever the car is on

    Hi Danny,

Can you please provide the part number for the gps antenna adapter?

Now, does the purple (reverse) wire need to be connected? From my understanding the backup camera is powered by the backup light wiring, which when powered up causes the display to change to the rear view.

    Thanks,

    Isi

This is what you need, with part numbers on them. The big box is the bezel kit (070003197), the small is the GPS antenna/aerial adapter (070003242)

That's how i thought it would work, but it's a bit more complicated. If the camera is powered by the backup light (or relay) you won't beable to view the camera output whenever you wish through the menu (like on my pic above).

The head unit doesn't know you're in reverse (in order to automatically switch the screen to camera) unless there's a signal in the purple wire. That signal comes from the reverse relay. You can power the camera from there as well, and it will only be filming when you're in reverse. There will be no video signal when you select Camera from the touchscreen menu.

I see. Is this true even for the Ferrari supplied clarion stereo?

    Thanks

I installed the Clarion last year in my 430, I love the head unit, have one in my lambo as well.

I had no issues with bluetooth audio, but I do have some issue when just using the iPod interface, it works most of the time but on occasion it freezes up putting me on pause all the time. Then after a few min it goes away, but my bluetooth works perfectly.

I have all the wires ran for the camera but have not yet installed the actual camera :D, this got me motivated again
