Ok ,agreed , last series of boats we delivered was 7 interceptôrs to Quatar ,we sealed the engine room and innstalled 30x30 K,N filters in the bulkheads, only air supply source, all becuase of Sand intrusion, can not poss imagine a Countach being caught/ left out in this enviroment .

This Countach was left outside in the ME for a long time!

Several decades ago, Del Hopkins of Lamborghini UK first mentioned that the Lamborghinis he would see returning from the ME to the UK for the summer had to be dismantled and refurbished as they had fine sand (silt) pouring out of every nook & cranny.

That said, I am sure some cars are kept very well in the ME, but I feel sure they are the exception.

My business partner worked as a young architect in Saudi Arabia during the 70's. He worked for a US firm that was designing buildings for members of the Saudi royal family and worked directly with several of the numerous Saudi princes. He said these guys would get a new Lamborghini and simply drive it until it broke. Their idea of maintenance was refueling. When they broke they just walked away from them. He told me about a Countach and a Dino spyder that sat abandoned alongside the road near where he lived for a year and a half. They were still there when he returned to the states. The windows were open and very fine sand was everywhere inside the cars. The top was off the Dino and there were little sand dunes on the seats. He said it had an "end of the world" look to it.

I have Saudi-Arabia Diablo and it is very well maintained, with all invoice from local dealer and every smalest detail taken care, I can even follow dry oil leak to distributor base and o-ring that is replaced to fix it from paperwork.
I think not all of them are like "don't care"

I have heard many recounts of similar circumstances. The famed Bob Wallace Jarama Sperimentale for example, was found at a gas station in the ME where it had been left by its owner after it refused to start. A British expatriate purchased it very inexpensively and brought it back to the UK in the late 80s.

Having lived here since 2005 and bought a few cars, Dubai is good if you want cheap but not perfect. One of my Countaches was being used as an outdoor storage locker in a construction site. Those few, few cars which are pampered are almost never for sale as the owners are sufficiently liquid that they do not need to sell. I know of 4 CT for sale here now (I did not know about the red DD). 2 anniversaries, a LP400S and a LP400. All at dealers. Not sure I would buy any of them however as they all have issues which the dealers will not disclose. As soon as you point out that they misrepresented something they stop talking to you. Stolen cars are also a huge issue (one of the dealers tried to sell me a stolen Testarossa once). Do your homework.

With Canada's oil production, I know lots of people who work in the industry. A large number end up working in places like Dubai. I know 4. The popular here from there is either the Mercedes G wagon or Land Rover Defender 90 or 110's. Some have low miles, especially for a 19 year old vehicle in some cases. But you look at the engine and you can tell its been out in the dessert.

Nope. It was covered in hundreds of coffee (tea?) cup rings (a Countach makes a great picnic table) and someone's work boots were stored in the front trunk. Such a fate for an '82 LP5000S with only 19,000 km on the clock.

Wait until the restoration is complete and I can post some interesting before and after photos.

Bought by Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey garage at Worldwide Auctioneers Houston Classic. Was previously at Driver Source. As Joe would say, it was a nice restoration candidate.

Pics of a Gmund coupe in a barn floated around the web a few years ago.

The owner has no interest in selling.

From what I recall the sold price included the commission. It was a well enjoyed, one owner car. I didn't see the file, though claimed to have extensive documentation. Mileage was around 30k. Overall the car looked pretty tired. Seemed to be all the money.
