Mark- We carried a heart for a heart transplant in an F-111D while I was at Cannon AFB, NM. Forget how that got organized, but it got national mention in newspapers and TV.

I believe AV-8B Harriers have an option for a Man-pod on the weapon's station ?

When I went to school at the U of A the Montana ANG had a det at D.M., with the F-106A. A pilot's wife went into labor at Great Falls. They told me he got home pretty fast - without the Falcon's :D.

    Wow.... That's quite a story.

I remember seeing something along those lines years ago, it seemed like one of those wild proposals for deploying small groups of Marines.

Kinda reminds me of this scene from True Lies:

We had a plan for a team of Marines in a hypersonic reentry vehicle with a precision parafoil for the landing. That would have been a ride. Mach 25 to zero knots.

A few days ago I watched on cable Total Recall with Sharon Stone. With the assault rifles, they never need to reload magazines ;).

Reminds me of a modeler who came up with a story that the Navy was going to get rid of most of its different types of aircraft, instead using versions of the Hornet to do all the tasks.

The resultant aircraft? The F/A/R/C/E-18! :D

Pretty much true on the F/A-18 since the Navy got rid of the Viking, Intruder, etc. They will also be doing buddy refueling until they get the Osprey going. Not even sure if they will do refueling from the Osprey.

I have flown with guys like that. Not often you got thrown off the range for flying too low in an F-111, but we did. At least none of those guys attacked the tower.
