Anyone tried to remove the silver dedication plate? I was going to have my dealer do it but forgot to ask them when I was in. Think it's something I could do myself?

And why would you do this or even want to do this?

I just bought it and the original owner optioned it with the silver dedication plate with his name on it. It's my car now I don't want his name stuck behind me on a plaque lol

How about getting an engraver to put your name in?

Ah. I though you were referring to the plate proclaiming the F1 victories.

I haven't seen the plate on the 458 but if its like on some other cars where the dedication plate is a special extra attachment to the interior, then it seems to me the question is what will be left there when the plate is removed?

One idea is to get a blank plate from the dealer. You could have Ferrari engrave it for you with your cars last 6 of the VIN or something like that. Or leave it blank... Just some ideas...

Yeah I was worried what the leather would be like underneath the plate as well. I love the idea of getting a blank one to replace the current one, thanks Caeruleus11!
I will email my dealer and see if they can remove it and replace it with a blank one if the leather is going to be marked up underneath the current one. Here's some pictures of what it looks like.

You're welcome. I think you will definitely want to get a blank one. I'd have them put something like the last of the VIN or the assembly number or something like that on there.

Why does anyone put their name on a car they might sell? Strange bird.

    Nice idea!!! :)

Maybe they didn't think they would ever sell it, or maybe they just didn't really think about it at all?

Probably double sided tape. I’d work fishing line behind the plate to remove it then use 70% isopropyl alcohol to remove the adhesive residue. If the leather is marred, cover it with a new plate with a generic inscription (I.e. Ferrari 458 Spider).

Because they were there first and they don’t care.

    Baller move.

    It’s a you problem now.

Keep the plate in the glove box. Someone 50 years from now will want to restore the plate to get to totally original spec/classiche. Just sayin.

Exactly, that is how I also removed the cheap carbon fiber Chinese shields previous owner put on my car.
