I spent a few afternoons reassembling that car, I know it's chequered past, but there's nothing mechanically wrong with it.
Glad you got them in good order Steve, they look the business don't they! P.S The 3 pedal stick shift manual gearbox conversion kit you wanted is held up in customs, should arrive soon...
Thanks chaps. They really are lovely. I'm a little disappointed that they won't go on till next Friday, but after all this time what's another week?! That's a shame. I can't wait to install that on the Commodore.
I had stock headers before and the RHS one developed a leak late last year. We managed to get them well under AU$6k in the end. You're probably losing points for the lack of shields for a start...
Good deal Steve. Thats a fair price considering it has shields. Im curious of the weight. Did Tubi say it was a factory design or slightly changed for more power? I'll be checking back to hear your feedback .
Factory 4-2-1 design, the ports are much smoother than OEM. Underneath the insulation may be different, Tubi claim 5 percent more power over OEM headers with stock catalyst. The weight of the headers are much lighter, I'd estimate 20% lighter. I will weigh mine to confirm.
One of the main reasons I wanted Tubi - despite the price - was because they are the factory 4-2-1 design, just done better. The 4-1 design headers may give more top end power than stock, but they lose power in the midrange, which is exactly where I think the 355 needs more, not less. The Tubi keeps or improves the power everywhere, and they have heat shields (another very important aspect for me).
Spotted 348TS on Bundall Road Gold Coast. Not a bad looking machine. Have not seen this on the streets here before.
Spotted my car leaving the house this morning (in the now traditional way) to finally get the new headers fitted. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Probably be late next week before I can pick it up given my work roster and the rubbish weather forecast. Thanks Pap! I think it's the shields that make it look so good....
