Upping your game happens on Sunday-that's when the championships are won and that's what Nico is doing. Even when he's been on pole Lewis embarrasses himself with his starts, and he's been flat spotting his tires more and he received another reprimand-desperation setting in? In any event the championship is long and hammy still has time to claw his way back into it. Not over yet for LH.
I haven't stopped supporting Ferrari, I've decided to just stop watching them lose races lol. You won't see me wearing Mercedes gear anytime soon, still going to hit car events in blazing red and cavallinos i.e. i'll be devoting more time towards different activities in the morning to support team red. And there's a distinction here between "accepting reality" and "giving up easily". Reality is Mercedes are still in a league of their own, and with the little number of tokens left for development, the harsh reality is Ferrari won't be able to make up that 0.5-1.0s gap that Mercedes have in their back pocket. Time to come to terms with that buddy, and as I mentioned before, I do hope a miracle happens and I eat my words.
Ferrari doesn't need a miracle but better mechanics to work and develope these cars. Sometimes the best is not good enough. I my opinion, the fact that Ferrari challenges a bit the Mercedes team, even at that minimum rate, it's entertaining and fun to watch. People forget the MS era when he was driving for Ferrari. He was monopolizing the grid. It's a cycle and we need to go through that. Used to be Ferrari, then Red Bull, now Mercedes.
Did we miss the joke qualifying they introduced in Australia? F1 is broken. The only way Ferrari stands a chance is to veto Todt/Bernie out of the sport
Indeed I agree the rules suck, and I can't wait till they change. In the meantime, we can win under them and its good we have a team like Mercedes to beat, cause it will make winning very sweet. Sad thing is, once we beat them I think they'll run for hills Spot on! Nico and Merc have played it really well on race day, but we can do better. And very soon I really think we have yet to see the full potential of our car and PU. The team said the tokens we spent here were on performance and reliability. The only reason to use tokens for reliability is so you don't have to show the other teams what you're changing. A few others, like me, believe we are yet to unleash the potential of our PU, and that there will be another upgrade to fix some more reliability coming for Spain. I'm still hopeful we will see a big jump in performance from Ferrari this year and that we can still win this year. Hats off to Merc for what they've done, but AFAIC Ferrari need a huge acknowledgement for what they have achieved and how far ahead of everyone else they are.
In reality, the rules have beaten Ferrari and the rest, not Mercedes as such. Once they had the advantage, the rules protect it for them nicely. I want Ferrari to win every single race and smash the competition, but it isn't going to realistically happen for the foreseeable. In the meantime, we have the fun of watching Elton implode under the pressure of both team and his own mistakes, while rosberg begins to share the love of the rat and the wolf, albeit grudgingly on their part I suspect. We will be back, but it's not down to the teams engineers, drivers or management, they are doing a fantastic job, but they are going racing with one hand tied behind their back, and splints on their fingers! Forza Ferrari
How much improvement per lap do you predict Ferrari will gain as a result or your thread? How is Alonso doing at his current team?
Not eating any words yet. As predicted, Merc has scored a 1-2 at the Russian GP and won by a landslide yet again. Ferrari was 26+s down the road... I won't be eating my words any time soon, neither will Alonso. wonk wonk.
2017 should open up the development race a bit more, so if Ferrari have the right talent and right development track in place we should be able to finally push on Mercedes...until then, wonk wonk. I bet McLaren-Honda & Renault are ecstatic too that now they'll get more freedom to actually develop and catch up. I think at the very least, us spectators should expect a tighter race for the podium steps than we've seen the last 2 seasons...so no more 20-30s cruises to victory.
But Ferrari already had its turn, just like Red Bull, and McLaren and Williams before, also Enstone. So now it's Mercedes' turn, I am just wondering who will be next, and who hadn't his turn yet? Will it be Haas' turn, or Manor, or Toro Rosso, etc... who know ?
Boom. No testing is such nonsense. If a team can/will Spend money practicing they deserve to be able to do so as much as they'd like.
Right? I mean the whole point of cost-cutting was to tighten up the grid and attract more participant teams, not sure if it has panned out that way... Did you guys watch the post-race russian gp conference? I just watched a youtube clip of it and kimi pretty much said they are nowhere to challenge Mercedes this year. wonk, wonk. Mr Black Sweater be raginnnnnnn
Only way is to change the engine/pu formula, but that's not gonna happen anytime soon since the teams have agreed to continue with it...
The combination that Merc have conditional participation, and the no season testing has taken its toll on F1 as a hold. SInce what...2014? Merc has has the upper hand, and it's status quo, and rather stagnant Formula. I can bravely say this is the most predicted show...sorry..sport. From qualifying, the Mercs show their hand and snatch pole by almost a second. Then they scurry off in the distance the first 5 laps, and then after that they just hit the cruise control. Ferrari have been playing catch up since day one. But they haven't won anything in about 10 years now. I'm afraid it's gonna be another pre-schumacher era. However, with the new rules kicking in, there is hope. But i won't be so confident in the shakeup either.
Testing bans and other restrictions on performance gains means whoever starts the season well has the upper hand the rest of the season Why this is shocking to people I do not know.
We can all moan as much as we like, the trouble is, fia and team management have decided to ignore the sport in favour of 'the show' and to pander to the whim of a mainstream engine constructor. Mercedes threatened to leave unless the engine formula was changed, as did Renault, so we ended up with these wheezy little v6's, Mercedes did the best job though (Renault wanted little diddy four-pots!, how cute), and having the devious sense to lock in extra no-development rules, they have guaranteed their place at the top table for years to come, and will simply whine and take their toys home should anyone suggest changes that threaten their winning ways. The only good thing to come from it this season is that someone has finally realised that Elton doesn't appreciate their total support of him, and have pulled the rug from under his feet and decided to put the best of merc behind a more deserving driver - Nico - so we will at least likely see a more worthy champion this year and probably next too
Honestly, we were crap in 2014 and were very far away from Mercedes in 2015 so expecting that we would be challenging for the title in 2016 was naive, despite all the blahblah that the team has to do in pre-season to attract sponsors. The target for 2016 should be getting closer to Mercedes. So far, they´ve been relatively succesful at that and I hope that we can grab some wins, no more than that.
That's it in a nutshell And I must say, never having been a Kimi fan, I particularly like the way he is driving this year and I predict he will win the WDC and retire with a "told ya" comment
