Whatever happened to Mario's commemorative S-2? It was # 1 for winning the F 1 title in 1978. Does he still have it?BTW: what is the going rate for a US spec Esprit X 180R?

Last one that sold at auction was $80k in 2014. Not sure what they've done since.

Didnt get any chance to chat as he was very busy with the concours judging. He did mention the early Turbo Esprit was his favorite Lotus of all so is evidently a man of taste :)

Great to see even Ferrari owners appreciating the Lotus Esprit!
I'm actually fortunate enough to have inherited a first year series 2 (1978) from my grandfather recently who although still around has no time for it.
I've always loved the look of it and the way it drives combined with its rarity, exclusivity and of course the attention you receive from it!
I've always selfishly though wished it was a Ferrari or Lamboghini as I don't think Lotus leaves the same impression. However, the extreme rarity more than makes up for it and the value finally seems to be rising (the only two I've seen for sale in the UK recently have been around 30k). The S1s here are about 50 -65k!
Hoping that one day they will skyrocket to reach the prices of the Italian cars so it can finally be appreciated like it should!
    Alex
P.S. Photo of my s2 attached, the colour scheme without the black sills and bumper isn't original but I will change this when I'm bored of the Ferrari-esque colours!

Nice photo! I also like 'his' other Esprit, the brown metallic turbo from the other Bond movie (For your eyes only).

    Beautiful car.

As a kid, I always dreamt of pulling up to the slopes in this car with my skis affixed to the roof. There is also an interesting story I read (see link below) about why they chose the color of this car and Roger Moore's special "bond" with this car.

Cool video highlighting the brilliant lines of the Turbo Esprit, penned by none other than one of the best in history. Appropriately titled: A Geometry Lesson by Giugiaro.

Andy, I think you will particularly like this one.

Yes, the owner of this car went to a huge effort to change the wheels from the BBS to Compomotive which involved different suspension parts and hubs. Lovely car.

The other Bond Turbo Esprit was also white but was somewhat short lived:
