There are many references to the great Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro describing the Ferrari 308 GTB as "the most perfect car I’ve ever seen". All I can see are articles re-quoting earlier articles. But where and when did he originally say it? I would be interested to know ...

    Cheers, James

I seem to recall that it was during an interview, a few months after the car was on the market; my memory is suggesting 1977. I should have the reference somewhere...

Giugiaro was quoted in Autocar back in 1989 saying: "It's the very best example of a two-seater coupe that's both classy and aggressive". He is also quoted in the same article saying: "it's so close to perfect and has lasted so long it's now the shape of Ferrari itself, a design that could imprison creativity for years ahead"

I don't think Giugiaro was referring to US spec bumpers & sidelights !!

To be fair, the 328 era US spec bumpers do a much better job of hiding their Federally required bulk than the 308 era bumpers did!

    Just stunning car.

I had the good fortune to meet his son while filming one of his designs, great guy.

A craft bit of editing there, swapping the 328 era car for the 308 era car! ;)

    (Gorgeous cars BTW! :) )

To me the 308 gtb q.v. is the most beautiful perfect design ever penned.
