Correct. Just one thing: "Cuoio" means very thick and hard leather, while "pelle" is the same but thin and soft. So you have "sedili in pelle" (leather seats) and "Borse in cuoio" (leather suitcases). "Cuoio" is for the sole of a shoe, "Pelle" for a seat or a jacket. ciao
But as used by Ferrari they are different colors. I suspect their intent was to use the term Cuoio as natural or untreated in appearance and Pelle as a more finished man made appearance. If nerofer posts the pictures you may see what I mean.
As I'm Italian, I know very well the difference there is between "pelle" and "cuoio". I own four (4) complete Schedoni luggage sets, two for 308/328, one for 208 turbo and one for 355. And I had one for 348 too: trust me. ciao
I was unaware of that. In that case would you describe a cuoio set as being made from thick and hard leather and a pelle set as more like upholstery leather? I have both too and my impression is the coloring or dying is the only difference.
No, they are the same thing, but cuoio is very hard to bend, while pelle isn't. Soft and thin = pelle, hard and thick is "cuoio". A shoe is in leather "pelle" with a "cuoio" sole. From wikipedia --------------------------------------------- Cuoio o pelle? ---------------------------------------------- ciao
Alberto, What I find slightly puzzling is That - and if I am not mistaken (?) - for more modern cars, Ferrari also used "cuoio" as a Name for a seat color, isn't it? Rgds
IMO the difference is the tanned side of the leather. It's like the "correct" , outer side for Pelle and the "wrong" , inner flesh side for Cuoio just like cordovan (horse leather) for shoes. That's the reason, why the cuoio leather looks like "waxed" and is much harder. Edit: The correct word is IMO "split leather" , "pelle crosta" for Cuoio , both sides "flesh side" , hard and thick
Here they are: Note that the italian "Cuoio" is traduced in english by "Morocco Leather"; and "Pelle" simply by "Leather", which seems to suggest a difference in the grade/finish of the leather Rgds Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
"Cuoio" is just another color tone, like the sole of a shoe. Never saw any other difference than the color tone in every Schedoni set I owned or touched or just seen, and, now, they are many. You can look the picture of the seats color that Schedoni did for some 308, with a thicker leather and different color from the stantard colors available for Ferrarii seats: that's Morocco Leather or "Cuoio", in Italian. ciao
Can you please help me with the luggage I have? I have following 4 parts I don't know the model they belong too. The fatty on the bottom of the pic seems to belong to a 208 turbo or so. correct? And the others? 2 smaller ones of same size and 1 larger one. They have dustbags without logo-print. I don't want to sell them. Just interested were they belong too. In case they have to fit in 308 gtb or gts somehow ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login
no, they aren't for a 208/308/328 GTB-GTS and nor for 288 GTO, 348, 355, Testarossa, F40, 456. The 208 turbo suitcase is much longer (or, at least, slimmer) and has "turbo" lettering impressed near the lock. Something else, maybe 550-575, but I don't know: maybe Bruno Nerofer can help ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
looks like 4 pieces from the 6-piece Mondial-T set (missing two cases, 1 small, 1 large) . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Absolutely: agree with Alberto (= not from a "Turbo" set) and with Michael: these are part of a "Mondial T" set, missing two cases. Rgds
My new Schedoni set (1985) for my 328GTB! UPS is right now getting it to my home. Really happy. Waited a long time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for helping me. I have made an other pic of the cases. Do you really think they are part of the mondial T? Doesn't the right case look different - smaller? The fatty indeed does looks like a part of the mondial T set. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just found and just arrived at home with an early 1982 turbo set: Slightly different from the one pictured (that is an 86-89 turbo Intercooler set), simply fantastic and VERY rare. GREAT find. Pictures tomorrow, sorry: now here it's half past midnight and I just arrived home from Milan with the bags. I'm very tired but very happy! Ciao
A treasure discovered yesterday. One Key lock is still in the bag so it's not pictured, but there are them all (3 key lock in leather + 2 empty key bags), with the original shoe protectors too: it's simply amazing that a 34 years old set is still mint even if it was used for a trip to Rimini (and there still is inside the pen of the luxury hotel in Rimini where the owner and his wife stayed during that holiday!). It comes from a 1982 Ferrari 208 GTB turbo, one of the very early delivered. It's a bit different from the 208 turbo intercooler set (the none that most of us know), expecially in the main bag: I NEVER had seen one in advance ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This one was a sort of "barn find", as I went to buy a 348 set for my stepson, as a birthday present after 4 years spent at Ferrari F1 carbon fiber racing department ("GES", Gestione Sportiva), when he was (until last month) the F1 chassis construction manager. The 348 set was mint, but I already have one so I wasn't excited at all: money spent for a Ferrari present for a former F1 racing dept Employee and no more. When I went to take the 348 set, the owner told me "sir, we once had a 208 turbo too, in 1982: we still have the original luggage set, we almost forgot to have it, just found this morning. Do you want that too, sir? We just used it once for a small Rimini holiday with our brand new 208 GTB turbo, in 1982..." I almost lost the tongue and I just could say " Yes!". So I came back (last night, at midnight) home with the two sets, the five pieces 348 one and the three pieces 208 turbo one. This is the true and complete story behind this incredible, very rare and perfect early 208 turbo set: all pictures were taken this morning (but one at 00.30 last night) ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alberto, did you buy it at a Portuguese auction? I saw a set just like it the other day being auctioned off...I think it ended up going for 4,600 or thereabouts.
