Thanks for actually having a real conversation about this with me, Nathan. There was NO accident history on the vehicle. In fact, it was advertised as have a recent mechanical and cosmetic restoration. The failure was in the Power Steering pump, the upper and lower control arms, ball joints and both side front wheel bearings. The guys who are fixing it said it was sort of a perfect storm of failure that combined to create a really scary situation.

And on that topic, I get that this is the place that a lot of folks go to get out their frustrations, fling insults at people, etc. But, I hope that we can all agree that regardless of where we are at in our lives, how much success or failure we have had, what socio-economic group we slot into, our family is really all we have. And in this case, mine was put in danger. If it was merely a matter of, "Oh, I bought a crappy car. Shame on me", I could deal with that. But not when it comes to the safety of my wife, the woman I would be lost without. I hope you can all understand that.

Speaking of drama, are you perhaps guilty of more than a little yourself?

How about facts, instead of "almost got killed" and "the entire steering linkage was complete junk"?

What car? Make, model, year, miles
What actually happened on that drive home - was there a collision, ran off the road, ...?
What was the actual problem on the car? (Yeah, "complete junk" tells us nothing other than you're not happy and you like to exaggerate)

[edit] Sorry, was typing at the same time you posted and see that you did add more specific information

I don't want anyone to dogpile on Cat's exotics. That's not what I'm looking for. And, trust me, impressing you with anything is the last thing that's on my mind. I was merely responding to what I felt was an innacurate portrayal of my posting.

Totallv agree on family..we have a 6 month fatal up the page..

Recap your loss in expenses to make it right, run it by Roy BEFORE spending the money, and seek compromise. That's really all you can do buying long distance as you did. I always fly out to drive it home...some epic drives.

I would offer YOU should have been the one to flog it around your hood, and then your wife would have escaped peril??

I guess I'm in the minority in expecting a dealership that sells expensive exotic cars should want their customers to be safe. You're right. I should have gone up there and checked it out. That's my mistake. I should have driven it. My mistake again. But, are we to allow dealerships to escape any responsibility in situations like this. All I wanted to do when I started this thread was to see if anyone else had had a similar experience to me. That's it. I joke, but I really didn't want to start a bash fest.

So that's a definite yes, then. Asked for simple facts to help this forum help you, got melodrama in return. Carry on! Wow!

No, but she was almost killed!!!!!!!

I will address the op original question. I have had several dealings with Roy over the years. All have been extremely positive. He is a true enthusiast and has always gone the extra mile to make things right. I am surprised that he would refer to your car problem as you bought a used car. Perhaps Roy will chime in if he sees this.

Contact Roy directly and sort this out.

Once you've done that, report back here and update us how it was handled.

Let's just put an end to this once and for all. Clearly, expecting any sort of lucid or helpful response was a reach. I'm done. Moving on. Thanks for all the constructive assistance.

I talked to Roy once. That was enough. Anyway, thanks, but I'm putting this to bed, at least for me. Clearly nothing good is going to come out of it.

It is a great colour, isn't it? However, it's actually my daughters's car. My Miata is green. Are you planning to Internet stalk me now, since I dared to question you? I see you've already chased down a thread in the 308 section just to post an insulting reply to me.

I actually did put some factual questions to you, as did others, on the type of car, actual mechanical issues you had, specifics of the problems encountered on the drive home by your wife - you didn't bother to answer any of them. People, including me, did try to help - you chose to ignore that and instead focused on the suggestion that you were offering a bit of drama yourself.

Judging from the name calling PM full of personal insults you just sent me, I can guess that you will now have some sort of vendetta against me. My two posts actually constitutes "all that crap that I spewed at you over the past few days", and merits a veiled threat that "this will come back to bite me in the ass"? I wonder where I ever got the idea that you bring some drama yourself? Oh wait, there I go again spewing crap at you - how dare I suggest that you might be a bit melodramatic. My most humble apologies.

I feel sorry for your 200 employees who apparently have to witness rants from you regularly (by your own words); and I think the rest of us here now feel sorry for Roy as well. By that I mean that it's a fair guess that you are the difficult sort of customer that would never be satisfied with any resolution and would bring a huge amount of drama along the way.

Best of luck with your car. I don't actually wish any real harm for your wife, family, or loved ones, and by your avoidance of the questions I think we can safely assume that she didn't actually experience any physical harm at all.

    +1

despite all the nonsense, this board has tried to help you, and you have refused that help at every turn-we still don't even know what vehicle we're discussing here.

instead you have taken every opportunity to be rude, condescending, caustic and obnoxious. it's hard to have much sympathy for you at this point.

the same day you started this thread, someone else started another thread looking for help on a car purchase, and they have received multiple positive and helpful responses-largely because of the way they conducted themselves. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/north-central-usa-mi-oh-ky-wv/521167-buyers-beware-kip-sheward-motor-sports.html

this is an excellent board, but one that doesn't tolerate fools or jerks. if you want different results I suggest you change your tactics.

You keep bringing the drama card out, when you were the one who began all the drama by suggesting that I should take responsibility for my wife's ordeal. This has absolutely nothing to do with you, unless you are trying to protect Cat's exotics and aren't willing to come right out and say it. I looked at your other threads and by the looks of it, this is habitual for you. Insinuate yourself into a conversation you have nothing to do with and start drama.

You know absolutely nothing about my employees and the only reason you keep bringing that up is as a veiled accusation that I was trying to brag about having a lot of employees. It was a joke, you ding-a-ling. Secondly, I think that if you asked any of the guys and girls who work for me, they would tell you they've never had a better, more laid back boss.

In terms of my family, I'm not sure you will ever get it as I'm not sure if you have the capacity to actually care for another human. But if you did, you would realize that whether or not she experienced physical harm is hardly the point. Let me help you out, here. When your loved one is unnecessarily put in danger, you get mad, and you want to make sure it doesn't happen again, and perhaps that it doesn't happen to someone elses loved one.

And, I'm really sorry if you didn't like my post in response to your's. I guess this only works one way. You get to give everyone else crap and they have to take it.

BTW - I'm sure no one on here who's ever spoken to Roy feels sorry for him. That's perhaps the most ignorant thing you've said, which is saying quite a bit.

I'm actually a Ferrari Guy. (F12 on the way, 365 2+2) Too tall to fit in a Lambo. Thanks for trying to soften the blows, but it feels like certain people just need to abuse other people online and there's nothing to be done about it.
