I was sent a PM that pointed me to this thread. FIRST let me say, I am a sponsor, BUT I DO NOT expect any different treatment. If someone has something to post, post it...I have nothing to hide.

NOW...A few facts that have been left out.

Several weeks ago, this poster called my store and spoke to one of my sales guys. He was interested in buying a expensive Ferrari I had. He started by making sure my sales guy knew how important he was at Dream Works Movie Studios, that he had PLENTY of money, bought and sold exotics like underwear so on and so on...

After a few days and calls back and forth, we stopped hearing from him and there was no car sold. Then a few weeks ago, the same day my son shattered his ankle and was in emergency operation at the hospital, this person calls my sales guy again.

My sales guy comes to my office, tells me that this person is now offering $22K cash for my GREMLIN I had in stock. True I was not in the best mode with my son and all. I call this person back and ask him..."What game are you playing?" First you call on a $300K Ferrari and now you call on a $22K GREMLIN? We get people quite often that waste are time with "Dreams". Of course first a 300K car then a 22K car just did not fit...

He starts going off how he makes $5 million a year, is a super big wig at Dream Works, how dare I insult him or question what he wants to buy...then he tells me he will never buy a car from me and make sure no one else will and hangs up. OK, so I am like time waster is gone.

A few hours later I get a call from CNC motors in California. They ask if I can wholesale the GREMLIN to them. I ask why they want it, and they tell me they want for a customer of theirs, turns out to be this guy. So we agree and I WHOLESALE the car to CNC. AT a reduced listed price I had posted.

NEXT CNC tells us, wait, they cant pay for it till WOODSIDE cuts them a check for it, because this guy is going to FINANCE the $23K purchase. STRANGE you would think at $5mill a year he could stroke a $23K check? Anyways, we wait almost 5 days and we finally get paid and off goes the car to CNC motors in Cali.

Fast forward a week. Person calls screaming and yelling we did not DISCLOSE the steering issue to him. First I say we DID NOT sell it to you, we sold it to CNC, you really should talk to them. HOWEVER to take care of you, I ask...DID YOU READ THE 75 POINT INSPECTION SHEET THAT CLEARLY STATES "Steering System...NEEDS SERVICE" It was fully disclosed that it needed work on this almost 40 year OLD car that was $23K cost.

His response was its more then that, its also b all joints, bushings, it leaks, body panels dont fit, missing a gas cap sticker, trim is not bright, on and on and on...

I advise him to get some quotes for repairs and send them to me and we will see what we can do for him. He says that it is ALREADY being worked on and the mechanic from CNC says it will be between $6500 and $8500 and thats what we should pay him.

Of course I say, that is not going to happen, we DISCLOSED the problem that you complain about in the 75 point inspection. AND you have failed to provide me any estimate in writing or any receipt or anything...just it will cost $6500 to $8500.

Then in an attempt to resolve the issue, (even thought it was sold to CNC and he is not my customer) I offer him $1000.00 towards repairs. He says that is just crazy and hangs up on us.

The next day he sends my son and e mail that states if we DONT PAY UP..he will be ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA and make sure to ruin us..AND his BEST friend at the Seattle Seahawks Football team will MAKE SURE to help him out in the PNW.

Well, it has becomes obvious to me, that this person can not be reasoned with as far as I am concerned. SO I make one last OFFER..I tell him put the car on a truck, ship it back, when I get it back in Seattle ALONG with the TITLE we have already forwarded to CNC motors, I WILL be happy to refund ALL the money to CNC motors and we can part ways.

Well, thats not good enough either, because his wife used to drive in a Gremlin with her Grand father and she wants to keep it... WELL then keep it and enjoy it, or go talk to CNC motors cause I have tried all I can.

My OFFER is still valid HERE today in PUBLIC in writing, Ship it back, get me the title from CNC or WOODSIDE since you financed this $23K purchase and I will FULLY REFUND CNC Motors, thats who bought the car...but I will still do that.

NOW, if anyone has a better idea, or thinks I am missing something, I am always open to ways to improve my company and my customers experiences.

Thanks For taking the time to read this.

In all seriousness, though. I read the thread you suggested. The first two sentences were an all caps DON'T BUY FROM THIS CROOK kind of thing. Mine started with the simple question if anyone had dealt with Cat's Exotics. I didn't say anything negative about them at all. I was just wanting to see if there was anyone else who had experience with that dealership. I can't see how my way is at all more offensive than the one you recommended.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I will say a couple things -

    - Geez, give the OP a break. Who among us hasn't had something squirrely happen with a car purchase. If your idea of helping the OP is to jump down his throat, then maybe don't hit the "post" button instead. Too many folks just stirring the pot and trying to draw the OP into a pissing match.

    - I've talked to Roy a couple times about some cars. I've always thought he was fair and upstanding in how he's represented the cars. He's also given me some great advice on rare Lambos I was hunting for and kept me from making some expensive mistakes. The best though was the "Roy's Elfs" thread from a bunch of years ago...now, where's that search function!?

Suggest the OP try to work it out with Roy directly (assuming he hasn't already gone down that path) instead of airing it all out here on Fchat where you won't get a very impartial audience. Sorry if that's a bit "Cap't Obvious" at this point. Just my 2 cents.

Edit: FWIW, I hadn't seen Roy's post before submitting mine.

Roy, I made several offers to your son John. He told me that returning the car was not going to happen. I also offered to return it and purchase another car from you of equal or greater value. That was also rebuked. I offered to split the costs with him. He said no to that as well and said that he would decide what he wanted to pay when the repairs would be done. but it would be nowhere near the 2500 that I was asking for, which was half of the first round of repairs. If you would like to dispute this further, and do this on this public forum, I'm happy to publish the e mail from him.

And, BTW, I never said 5 mil a year. That's untrue. And, as a rule, if someone depreciates, you finance, if it appreciates, you buy. Now, if you want me to publish the e mail chain with the actual facts of what happened, I will. You're going to look very foolish since most of what you've said here is untrue. But I'm happy to do it.

Thanks for trying. I will say that a great deal of what Roy has said is untrue. For a moment I thought about posting the e mail chain with his son. But at this point, why bother.

Are you just assuming all comments from everyone who replied to this thread are attributable to me? I said nothing of the sort, period. Prove it or accept that you're just being dramatic again. 4 other posters, including you, used the word 'drama' before I ever did. My use of the word drama was in response to the quote where YOU used it - so you're really dreaming if you honestly think I started all the drama comments. You've got a few other people to stalk first, before my place in your lineup.

I also never suggested anything about you taking responsibility for your wife's ordeal. Period. Prove it or accept that you're just being dramatic again. Here's my first post in this thread, http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144666997-post27.html . What I DID say was to ask for actual facts. I asked for specifics about the vehicle, I asked for specifics about what exactly happened with your wife and the car on the drive home, as did several others. You still have never answered those questions, by the way. How you leap from that to claiming I was "suggesting you take responsibility.." is really an incomprehensible stretch that fails all logic. So how do you come up with that? Perhaps a little more exaggeration for the sake of drama? (Oh, there's that "spewing crap" again!)

Honestly, you'd think that a successful screen writer would take a suggestion that he's being dramatic as a compliment. However, there is no better word to explain your word choices against the few facts that have been presented so far. You actually owe me an apology for your mistaken assumptions and attributions, but I think I am quite safe in assuming that your massive ego renders you incapable of such an act. If you were to actually apologize, then I apologize in advance for making that assumption. I'm not holding my breath.

I didn't actually start this thread on a public forum and ask for comments, feedback, assistance, etc. You asked. This thread has as much to do with me as the dozens of other people who responded to your request, even if our bank balances pale in significance to yours. I have nothing to do with Roy, I'm not a multimillionaire mogul who buys and sells new Ferraris and Porsches on a whim, and I have no dealings with Roy to defend or protect. I guess that makes me dirt in your eyes, an insignificant nobody who works an ordinary job and can only afford a 32 year old ****ty car (your words in PM), how dare I address a multimillionaire mogul bigshot 1%er such as yourself? Sorry, I don't actually give a crap about your bank account nor do I believe it 's balance anoints some special status - what are you going to post next, "Do you know who I am?"

I didn't bring it up - you did. Nor was I the first to respond to your boast. Nor did I "keep bringing that up", I mentioned it ONCE - unless, again, you've decided to attribute every single post in this thread and the comments made by all the other respondents to me. More melodrama and exaggeration on your part. Nor have I ever actually insulted you, via post or PM, as you have now done multiple times. I guess even multi-millions in a bank account can't buy class.

I actually do get it, and I've not posted anything to give you reason to insult me in that regard - and I never insulted you or your wife. You must know the story of the boy who cried wolf - you're following the script pretty well. "Put in danger" - absolutely agreed that's unacceptable, I would be angry as well, and those words you used are factual. What I wouldn't do is go around claiming my wife "almost got killed" when there was no actual collision, accident, physical harm - I'm a lowly engineer and I deal in facts as part of my humdrum, ordinary profession, not drama.

"Put in danger" - perfectly valid and fair. "Almost got killed" - dramatic hyperbole. You honestly can't see the difference and understand how those are very different statements? I can appreciate your anger at the situation, and would be equally upset about it were it to happen to me - but unlike you, I could express myself without getting dramatic.

I think you have this backwards - I'm not the one who stalked you and sent you a profane and insulting PM, nor tracked your posts elsewhere on the forum to post an insulting reply - that was you. Contrary to your accusations of spewing crap, I actually don't give a crap. I guess you're not used to someone actually pointing out that you're not perfect - put me on your payroll, and I'll bow in abeyance too.

The simple fact that you tried to return a car to someone who didn't sell it to you, makes you seem either entitled, foolish, or legally uneducated...

You just paid CNC, NOT Roy TWENTY thousand dollars ...for a Gremlin Careful with that "foolish" word. $20k and you expect it to depreciate?
It's actually a quote from J. Paul Getty- “If it appreciates, BUY it. If it depreciates, LEASE it

Oh, enough already. I am going to step out of my normal role (instigator) and try a different approach.

Roy has offered to take the car back, refund in full:

No matter what kind of PRIOR correspondence you've had with him, or his son, you have an offer on the table that seems to resolve the issue, EVEN THOUGH ROY DIDN'T SELL YOU THE CAR.

So why not do the obvious thing and accept his offer, shake hands and part company? And if you want a gremlin, there's one sitting on a used car lot down here that's been there for a while. I'll swing by tomorrow and find out the asking price. (On second thought, it might be a Pacer, will that do in a pinch?)

either way, take the offer, move along, try to find another one. Can't be that tough.

    D

PS. Is that you, Gregg? If it is, post a couple smiley faces and a selfie of you half naked.
