The OP should have read his paperwork and maybe had things seen too before driving his new 'super car', I certainly would have seeing as how it was steering that was identified as iffy, my conscience wouldn't let me use the Mrs as a crash test dummy! Lol

Reading some of the op's previous, ummm, "work"... it literally seems like 2 people at times.

In some of his threads everything will be all hunky dory and then suddenly there is an entire post from him ALL IN CAPS and with a completely different tone.

Then not for sale 11 days later. He also points out that he will not participate in the "COMPLETE GREED AND LUNACY" of the current market for certain vintage special interest cars. Even points out that known very high auction results have no bearing on actual values.

Which is odd since a few days later he posts his 1989 Porsche Speedster for (gulp) $299k while quoting the Amelia Island sales result for a similar car.

If he's gone forever I'm not sure how to feel. Won't miss the meltdowns and barrage of insults. But I would have liked to hear what it was like to portray Cybertron's missing father. And producer for the Power Rangers? Seriously?

 

This is how the OP went wrong and got torn apart in the FC jungle:

• Note all caps. To me the this screams “THIS IS IMPORTANT EVERYONE. LISTEN TO WHAT I AM GOING TO SAY. “ Why so important? It’s just another thread no?
• Why is the OP asking? Is this pre-purchase DD or post-purchase trash talk? Based on the all caps I immediately suspected the OP wanted maybe to trash Cat’s online to get some leverage in a deal gone bad. I’ve seen to this movie before and I suspect others have as well so I am immediately skeptical of the OP but let’s see which way this goes.

• OP’s Second Post:

o My suspicion is confirmed. He wants to talk about a deal gone bad and he bad mouths the dealer and Roy in particular WITHOUT PROVIDNG ANY FACTS. WHY? To protect me from making the same mistake before buying? Probably not in my experience. More likely to gain leverage in the deal by trashing Cat’s on social media and getting Cat’s to give him what he wants. Again, I’ve seen this movie before. In this case you’re not just trashing Cat’s you're taking me for a fool.

• OP’s Fourth Post (after being informed of sponsorship and reading testimonials):

“Just checked out the Cat's thread and the testimonial, thread. Had no idea they were a sponsor. So, it seems pointless to say anything even slightly negative about them. So much for objectivity.”

o Now why would he go and say that? Everyone had been nice and helpful to that point. Why would he think we cannot be objective about a sponsor? That is a direct insult to me and everyone on the board. Am I just a fool to be manipulated by a sponsor? Did his plan to win sympathy from FC members just evaporate and now he is attacking the board? So by his Fourth post he’s pissed me off.

o OK, the OP’s asked for it so two Snark’s come out and give it to him (and rightly so I think).

• “Oh save the drama and just tell people what happened already.”
• "But the drama is why we all read these threads (my post).

• These seem fairly harmless to me especially since he asked for it with the no-objectivity insult.

• OP’s Fifth Post:

“I bought a car off their lot. It came with a "75 point inspection". When it arrived, my wife drove it home and almost got killed in it due to the fact that the entiring steering linkage was complete junk and she didn't know a car shouldn't feel like that when you drive it. When I confronted them, they told me it was a USED car. BTW - When I actually do rant, it's never vague. Ask my 200 employees. And, although I do in fact live for providing you all with drama and a big fat target at which to aim your snappy, yet demoralizing commentary, I was simply trying to find out if mine was an unusual experience, or if this is how these folks do business on a regular basis. Okay, that should give you a good start. Let the drama commence.”

o So this is where the OP got to the point of no return.
o First he says his wife almost got killed but offers nothing other than steering being junk. Did it seize up? Was there so much play it could not drive straight? Did you wife park it and tow it home? (He has never told us how the car almost killed his wife although he was asked many times).
o Next he complains a used car dealer tells them they bought a used car. It is a cliché in America that used car dealers will sell you a lemon so BUYER BEWARE. I’m also thinking how did this not show up in test drive when you “bought it off their lot?” Something does not seem right.
o Then the OP drops 200 employee bomb. WHY? Why are you telling me you HAVE 200 EMPLOYEES? A humble person would say “ask the PEOPLE I work WITH.” But no, the OP wants me to know he HAS 200 EMPLOYEES. Why? What does that have to do with this whole situation? (BTW, I bet if you asked those folks who they work for they would not say the OP but rather the company name). I wonder what they think about being HIS EMPLOYEES?
o Then the rant about living to give us snappy and demoralizing commentary. This after only the two snarky posts above? WTF?
o So for me at that point it was GAME ON BUDDY. I’m going to see this one through. Let’s get to the bottom of what really happened with Cat’s. I didn't really care until this post but now I’m betting there is more to the story than you are giving.

CAT’s First and Only Post:

“NOW...A few facts that have been left out.
Several weeks ago, this poster called my store and spoke to one of my sales guys. He was interested in buying a expensive Ferrari I had. He started by making sure my sales guy knew how important he was at Dream Works Movie Studios, that he had PLENTY of money, bought and sold exotics like underwear so on and so on...
After a few days and calls back and forth, we stopped hearing from him and there was no car sold. Then a few weeks ago, the same day my son shattered his ankle and was in emergency operation at the hospital, this person calls my sales guy again.
My sales guy comes to my office, tells me that this person is now offering $22K cash for my GREMLIN I had in stock. True I was not in the best mode with my son and all. I call this person back and ask him..."What game are you playing?" First you call on a $300K Ferrari and now you call on a $22K GREMLIN? We get people quite often that waste are time with "Dreams". Of course first a 300K car then a 22K car just did not fit...
He starts going off how he makes $5 million a year, is a super big wig at Dream Works, how dare I insult him or question what he wants to buy...then he tells me he will never buy a car from me and make sure no one else will and hangs up. OK, so I am like time waster is gone.
A few hours later I get a call from CNC motors in California. They ask if I can wholesale the GREMLIN to them. I ask why they want it, and they tell me they want for a customer of theirs, turns out to be this guy. So we agree and I WHOLESALE the car to CNC. AT a reduced listed price I had posted.
NEXT CNC tells us, wait, they cant pay for it till WOODSIDE cuts them a check for it, because this guy is going to FINANCE the $23K purchase. STRANGE you would think at $5mill a year he could stroke a $23K check? Anyways, we wait almost 5 days and we finally get paid and off goes the car to CNC motors in Cali.
Fast forward a week. Person calls screaming and yelling we did not DISCLOSE the steering issue to him. First I say we DID NOT sell it to you, we sold it to CNC, you really should talk to them. HOWEVER to take care of you, I ask...DID YOU READ THE 75 POINT INSPECTION SHEET THAT CLEARLY STATES "Steering System...NEEDS SERVICE" It was fully disclosed that it needed work on this almost 40 year OLD car that was $23K cost.
His response was its more then that, its also b all joints, bushings, it leaks, body panels dont fit, missing a gas cap sticker, trim is not bright, on and on and on...
I advise him to get some quotes for repairs and send them to me and we will see what we can do for him. He says that it is ALREADY being worked on and the mechanic from CNC says it will be between $6500 and $8500 and thats what we should pay him.
Of course I say, that is not going to happen, we DISCLOSED the problem that you complain about in the 75 point inspection. AND you have failed to provide me any estimate in writing or any receipt or anything...just it will cost $6500 to $8500.
Then in an attempt to resolve the issue, (even thought it was sold to CNC and he is not my customer) I offer him $1000.00 towards repairs. He says that is just crazy and hangs up on us.
The next day he sends my son and e mail that states if we DONT PAY UP..he will be ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA and make sure to ruin us..AND his BEST friend at the Seattle Seahawks Football team will MAKE SURE to help him out in the PNW.”

• BINGO! My suspicions are all confirmed (in my mind) now.
o OP wanted to create deal leverage by trashing Cat’s on F chat.
o OP wants people to know he is a big shot because he has 200 employees, works for Dreamworks, has plenty of money and knows people at the Seattle Seahaws (WTF on the last one?).
o But worst of all, HE DID NOT TEST DRIVE THE CAR!!!!!!!!!! How can you complain about the steering if you didn’t test drive it?
o Finally, It’s a Gremlin! This does not really matter to me in the underlying dispute but like Donald Trump, it offers a lot of opportunity for snark in the jungle.

So to summarize this whole post, the OP went into the jungle, raised a bunch of hell, pissed off the local animals and got eaten alive.

Why does that bother anyone?

Great analysis, BTW. Although I think insulting a member's Miata when he started a Gremlin thread on a Ferrari forum is worthy of mention, as is his insinuating that a respondent is mentally ill (his words) and asserting that a respondent is incapable of caring for others... all while complaining about the drama others create.

Well there was nothing personal to anyone in particular when I wrote my post but I had a feeling YOU would react to my post. Why? Because some years ago you reacted to a post I did and since then I've kind of been more attentive to your posts when I occasionally see them and could guess you would react.
Your comment toward me had a meaning like ''go play away kid'' back then. No real discussion.

Maybe a have a wrong feeling about who you are and your writing may not reflect your real personality.

I'm also a very responsible person and always try to be a man of his words and always assume the consequences of my acts or words.

What I meant in my comment toward your comment is that sometimes there is WAY TOO MUCH bashing on FC. About people or about cars. To say something like give him a long rope to hang himself is not of any help to a situation where the person is allready upset by all the comments. So many times gas has been thrown on a fire instead of extinguish it on FC. That is why I try to stay away from the threads were personnal opinions is the main discution. That is probably why you don't recognize or know me, I prefer the more technical threads.

Talking about sheeps, some are wolves disguised in sheeps. Beware of them. But if you know how to gently tame them they can eat in your hand. I'm sure this thread could have had a very different ending if some people would have been more carefull in their comments.

I will AGAIN try to only read these threads and stay silent in the future.

I am still trying to figure out how someone thinks they are somehow justified to trash someone's business when they did not purchase the car in question from the dealer they are trying to trash. If there is any issue to be made it should have been between op and CNC. Roy went above and beyond here offering anything, especially after the way this was handled.

 

This is the guy that trashes waitstaff, and bellows "do you know who I am?" when he doesn't get his way. I have no doubt that he didn't know of Roy's stature on this site, and was going to try and manipulate the story in order to sully Roy's reputation and bully him into capitulation. Entitlement isn't a strong enough word for what the OP has. I hope his apology tour included one to Roy, because expecting Roy to pay for the OP's inability to read the inspection report is reprehensible. Personal responsibility seems to be in short supply these days, regardless of income level. The OP is a toddler.

 

Something is not right here. A 22k Gremlin is a crisis situation for a guy that reportedly makes 5 million a year? I call BS. A sentimental gift for the wife and the car was not sent to a top resto shop for a full concours restoration before she got it?

 

I'm saddened this thread seems to be ending. What a shame. Oh well, maybe soon another will spring up just as entertaining........they always seem to.
