Had to make a run into Sears in Surrey. Surrey isn't the nicest place in the lower mainland of Vancouver. The area I was in, is the worst part of Surrey. What does a Surrey kid get for Christmas? Neighbors VCR! But often times in bad area's, you can find a total dive joint with excellent diner type food. Surrey has such a place. The Fresgo Inn, diner food like Salisbury Steak, meat loaf, etc. Sandwiches, burgers, mostly comfort food. Surprisingly they have very good prime rib. I don't think they have redecorated since it opened in the 1970s.

They were great after the grill sear. Had to go about 1 minute on each side to get a decent sear, so that probably altered results. NEED hotter - will have to try your torch method next time! Eggs will be in the very near future. Leg of lamb will likely be Thursday or Friday night. :)

I caught a bit of gone with the wind late last night and have been craving a bison burger... Hopefully I can find it in the super market.

Other than me having a brain fart and confusing it with Dances with Wolves... I'm not really sure. 😳

This was the scene I was thinking of though.

LMAO! I like bison. Among the less common meats, I really like elk. Had some in Colorado years ago. Ostrich is good.

Tonight is salmon, steamed broccoli and rice. My weekly concession to my doctor and her worry warting over my cholesterol level.

Exactly. I tried it once at BOA in Vegas. It was a nice flavor boost to a filet, which can be less flavorful because it's so lean...T

"Leg of lamb will likely be Thursday or Friday night."

Leg is vacuum sealed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, a splash of mezcal, and some olive oil.

Dropped into water bath at 127.5F an hour ago & will let it go until tomorrow night.

A few restaurants here serve more exotic meats. The place I found more exotic in varied locations was in around Phoenix Arizona. More touristy there. Lots of wild west themed places. You'd see Bison to rattle snake on a lot of menus.

Bison was good. I really like rattle snake as an appetizer.

I had electrical problems yesterday. Ended up at A&W. Couldn't cook. Didn't want dishes or leave my dog at home. He's in a go nuts if I leave him alone phase. So if I leave the car to go into a restaurant. He goes ballistic in the car. So drive thru was easier.

I have an open concept downstairs. Kitchen, then breakfast nook area, then small TV room with fire place. A light bulb went out in the kitchen. A bulb also went out last year over the breakfast nook section. I didn't change it because never use that section, kitchen and TV area are enough light for the entire downstairs. Since the light bulbs came in packages of two. Decided I'll change the breakfast area bulb as well. I went to take out the old bulb, no bulb. So I go to put the new one in. The second it touches the socket, it pops with a big spark flash. Oh crap I forgot the old bulb broke in the socket and that's why I didn't bother changing it. It popped the circuit breaker. House has no power. Go to fuse box. Now its some lights and sockets have power, while others keep tripping. Like my TV works, but the light sockets in other areas don't.

Electrician is in. I don't want to burn up the fuse box and start a fire!

We didn't try the cheese, but opted for the seared scallops with Parsnip Purée, Country Ham Cracklings and Pickled Pomegranate Seeds. There were only three, but they were the best scallops I've ever eaten!
