really ? I think it's all personal taste. Based on that spec, I think he made a fantastic choice.

Well it is interessting that many spec the tdf like a Bentley continental GT. Kind of contradicts the nature of the beast.

 

I toyed with the idea right at the beginning given the historical connection and when I first saw the green car photographs thought it looked great and began to regret my decision. However, on further consideration, I realised that the diamond quilted leather was not photographed in relation to the whole car but merely as a detail and that when considered in the context of the whole, would, as Big Three says, contradict the nature of the beast. I might well do it on my M.

Meanwhile my paint sample saga has turned to farce and my build frozen.

It's been some times I ask myself if it woudn't be better to work with independant workshops instead of the ferrari Atelier in order to get something special on a Ferrari...

Why not order the car in an average combo, and then ask a profesionnal paintshop or upholsterer to do the special job

For sure it won't be a "real' specced ferrari BUT

Quicker
Far less expensive
Worksmanship probably better (Paint finish)


The delays and prices are ridiculous at the atelier

There is a perception rightly or wrongly that only Ferrari or those sub contracted by Ferrari get the official Ferrari blessing for any modifications to a Ferrari.
While on the one hand delays and drama are a discomfort they are all part of the Ferrari 'experience'.
The reason for 'tailor made' is to conceive and build out your own personal idea of what a Ferrari should be. Some professional help along the way to may save you from yourself if you stray too far off the path to your perfect personal Ferrari spec.
Perhaps only one hundred customers a year get to go wild with their personal Ferrari build spec. This is an opportunity not to be squandered with simply another grigio ferro Ferrari...

 

even to the color. Green is something of a trap as getting a good green shade is a challenge. The F12 has a better look than the tdF color choice IMHO...

Pictures of the F12 taken outside the Lanesborough Hotel in London if I'm not mistaken.

 

Is that the same shade of green on both cars?

I think the VI tdf looks great but to each their own. I think the F12b shown here looks fantastic also.
