It's not hard if you want to, but why not just fill up a bit sooner? You're not poor. The gas will be purchased eventually! She's a thirsty beast.

Just stop and get gas, do the math -24 gallon tank.

It goes to blank after somewhere around 10 miles remaining. And at that point it'll take about 21 gallons.

For me its not about the costs. It's about being at the gas station once a day and not having time. If I find I have another 60 km in the tank I'm using it to keep my day rolling.

If the tank is 24 gallons then its safe to assume that when the Dashes come on there are 3 to 4 gallons left

I spend most of my time between Sicily and the UK so fill ups are a constant but I'd rather fill when nearly empty than keep topping up a half full tank. Money is not the reason.......
When the Beeb Beeb 40 miles to go signal flashes up I sometimes have a moment of panic as I prey for the next service station to be within range. It always annoys me when I leave it so late but hey ho if life was that planned I wouldn't be driving an FF.

To answer the OP I reckon you have 20 miles at best when the dashes appear and that is when you adopt the Miss Daisey driving style until the thirst is quenched.

I can get about 320 miles on a tank before the warning light comes on: just enough to get through Oregon on one of our regular WA-CA drives. But that's a really boring 320 miles of droning an average 70mph with almost no starts and stops or "fun" stuff. Have gotten as much as 400 miles on a tank with cruise control driving down I-5 thru CA at around 75mph.

Haven't had the nerve or wanted to waste the time at the side of the road waiting for rescue from FNA roadside assistance to try to go to empty, but I'm guessing that while the tank may have a stated 24 gallon capacity, 3 gallons of that is unusable/unavailable. When the warning light comes on, we start hunting for the next gas station, which on some long road trips on small roads in the middle of nowhere USA can mean another 30-50 miles.

Agree Eric, 17 MPG is a max for boring highway driving. And agree with everything you said.

I do not trust the metering enough to push it, as the story above notes, we can run out!

When I really open up the big V-12, I can get it down to about 6 mpg.

On F1 circuit Spa Francorchamps F12 falls below 4mpg.
You can see engine beiing cooled by fuel if following the car. Better than engine failure I guess.

Never got it above 13 mpg in cruising mode.

Fuel tank should be bigger like in 599.
