Interesting development, I wonder who will fill his shoes at RM? Best wishes Max.

He is good looking, speaks fluently 4-5 languages, has (had) a job most of us dream of and from what I've heard is quite well off financially. There are so many reasons to hate the guy!!! I can't help liking him, though, probably because he's a real car guy (races in historic rallies!) who ended up in this business for all the right reasons. Best of luck!

I for one am ecstatic he's leaving, as he (and Bruce Springsteen) were/are my wife's fantasy lovers! Now, there's only one on the immediate horizon! It's way too late for me to grow up and "be like Max", but i would if I could. A very cool guy, in many, many ways. I too, will miss him, especially when he crowed "Sir, I know this isn't easy. Because if it were, everyone would own a Ferrari"! steve

I wish him more than well, actually congratulated him on the phone yesterday. He will be privately at Monaco and at the start of MM ( next week) for those who want to say hello. And I certainly will be among his first clients one way or another. Having said, this is a crowded world he is entering, with many players, in a market which is evolving. We may see some impact on auction houses too, which are suffering from an overflow of auctions and volume of not so special cars coming at auction as everyone has noticed. Technically while he may be replaced both at the rostrum and in his managerial capacity for RM Europe, likely by different people, it will not be the same. But market has to move and it was the good moment for him as he says..

Yes he is very good in his job and a pleasure to watch! Still remember his very good one-liners as:

"You might not have come for this car but that is absolutely no reason not to buy it"

and we bought the AR RZ......

If I watch the uninspiring other auctioneers Max is the best and most amusing and inspiring of them all. His fluid German, English and Italian is impressive.

    ciao

I think you meant to type French, not German . . .
