These are the hotels I know of: 4 Seasons The W The Driskoll Weston and A-Loft in the Domain I cannot say who is staying where for obvious reasons.... ;-) S
Looking forward to this.....what better way to get away from work! Plan is to head up 290 tomorrow after work, staying with family in North Austin. Was going to participate in the track sessions but I didn't find out soon enough. Was told by Julie @ Boardwalk that a pretrack inspection completed by a Ferrari dealer is required. One of the requirements is brake fluid flush within the past 6 months....Had my annual done in August last year....... Oh well...next time!
I had a telecon this afternoon with FNA (who is the official sponsor of this event, not a dealership) and because many folks received the notice about pre-inspection too late to go to a Ferrari dealership, FNA will have techs at the track to perform this for you. The part about the brake fluid within six months is correct. Mine was done November 12th. Hmm, wonder if they will cut me some slack for two days?
If you go up Hwy. 71, the stoplight that has a sign Del Valley Schools is the turn south to the track, past the schools, turn left at the Gas Station and pick up the far north end of the road to the Track about 1/2 mile on your right. That's the way the employees enter...LOL! I guess I could Google Earth and get the street names..good tacos at that Gas Station
Incorrect! There are any number of nice hotels in the Austin area, of which I have a reservation in one. Rifledriver suggested Sonesta in Bee Cave, which has free DIY underground parking. As listed in post # 26, the Dallas crew has identified a few others as well. Nonetheless, many others to select from besides Bastrop.
71 from Houston, four miles west of Bastrop is 21, turn left and go ten miles to 812, turn right and the track is four miles on your right.
Lost Pines was quite pissy about leaving car up top rather than a long damn way away in a valet lot. I wasn't happy.
Well, you could have parked behind the Chicken Coop across Pope Bend Road, with my two GTBs..Turn around was further into the Ranch, on a gravel road though.. I would have told them "Here's $20 for the valet, now leave it RIGHT THERE!!! It works in Baton Rouge!! Valet is usually a subcontractor and can get aggressive....
That event was very well put together. It exceeded my expectations. I will attend every Challenge race after doing this one. Note to self: The track does not look as technical on TV. lol Going out on the trackin the rain was a new one for me.
Bee Cave is now closer to COTA, than Bastrop?? *shaking map** Anyway hope everyone had a wonderful time...pictures???
Well ya got me there, if you want to split hairs over 2.2 miles, (Bastrop is 19.5 miles, Bee Cave is 21.7 miles, both as the crow flies) go ahead, but Bee Cave is a nicer setting.
Bastrop is way closer to COTA than Bee Cave, how do I know? I live in Bastrop and drive to bee cave often. I can be at the track in 10 minutes. Here are some pics as requested. And for future reference, there is a new road off of Hwy 71 called Kellam Road, about 1.5 miles east of the 130 toll road. It goes directly to the track.
