As everyone here knows, I sold my 355 Spider about 3 years ago. I had about $60K into it and sold it for close to $75K. It just sold to a new owner last week for $120K. Guess I should have waited... *sigh* Mike
Private party or dealer sale? I would think that would be currently one of the highest spiders sold... Robb
Private Party. Part of the higher price than average, I think, is there just aren't any here any more... probably less than six, in the country. And, under the new rules, you can't import anything that is between 10 and 25 years old. It has to be newer than ten years, or older than 25. Mike
Never worry if you kept it longer. Money likes to work not sit idle. If I kept all the "classics" I had between storage and maintenance I would have lost money. Bought and sold a few of the same models kept them a couple years and made. As long as your ahead you win.
The appreciation in the last year covers maintenance for the next 5-6 years at the least I'd say. Free Ferrari (disregarding opportunity cost)...can't complain.
I really like your thinking, have to remember the above line the next time my wife sees one of my maintenance invoices.
I guess that's good news overall Mike. At least prices aren't tanking. On a somewhat related note, when we recently sold our Southern California home I hired a real estate agent and fellow Ferrari owner that I met through FCHAT and local gatherings. Haig (Barsamian) did such an amazing job for us that we easily cleared an extra $50K over what another representative would have gotten us. I only mention this because when my wife tells me that I'm putting too much money into my 355, I always count the extra funds in our bank account to show that we're still in the black. You have to admit, it's creative... Henry
Thank you for the kind words Henry... but more importantly, thank you for placing your trust and business with me however we could have not done it without your redhead. The 355 is head turner with beautiful lines and sound. Buyers were stunned. Here is the clip for those of you who appreciate it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtpuPVeZ8sk
Yeah, tell me about it. These prices... I should have bought years ago and now its going to take me longer.
A guy he met because he owns a Ferrari got him an extra $50K on his house sale, so logically the 50K is clearly the result of the car.
I tried.... LOL, no just the house. But I did sell my C5 Corvette to the buyer who bought the house since the 355 was not an option LOL.
Here is a short clip we create for Henry...http://barsaminc.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Hemet-M.PI-Farrari-HD.mp4
Haig is one of the good guys! I digress, but seeing Haig's posts triggered a lot of fond memories of the Pauper's Run days!
I hear ya! Paid $130k for my F430 6 sp coupe. Sold it for $160k 1.5yr later with an additional 6,000 miles on it. I thought I won the lottery! That car went up for sale for $220k. Only 30 days after I sold it. D'oh!
