Hi Group, A good friend is looking at a 1998 355 Gated car. GTB. Red on tan with 27,000 miles. Don't know when the latest service was done. Any idea on value of such a car?
well **** if i can pick lets go with $200k-$1 million, lets make our cars worth a lot more if we get to pick the market!
Why 1998? If you're friend is in Canada he can expect to pay betwern 100-130k CAD. That seems to be the sweet spot for Canadian cars. 95 GTBs can get a bit more and US imports are going for slightly less. Autotrader.ca has some listed as high as 160k USD.
You can definitely find plenty of no stories, 355 GTBs needing a major right now for 70,000. That's reality.
Plenty? Any links? OP never said car needed a major...he said he didn't know the date of the last major.
Hey Brian, Yes, but they will likely need more than a major and will probably also be 40K miles and above. The one thing that really suprises me with the 355 model is how many need considerable work, even simple cosmetics. Just this week we got some 355 parts in to refinish and they are so bad that I don't know how the owner got in and out of the car.
I can get you a black one with 25K miles for that money if you like! 4 months ago I bought a Ferrari for 40K below dealer asking price at the dealer, so don't get fooled by what people are asking because many put their car for sale as they believe they can make a huge profit but honestly, the cars are not moving, and if they are moving, it is for the right price. anyway, back to they car I know about, no salvage title, sub 70K USD (in europe though, but US spec, shipping is cheap).
Please post the link for all of these F355 Berlinettas with manual 6 speed transmission that are less than $70K USD in the USA with less that 35K miles. Not F1s, not imports and no spiders:
Well it seems the OP doesn't know much more than the year and mileage so the safe think to do is assume it needs a major. I was just responding to those specific posts against $70k 355Bs. I was saying that there are many clear title, less the 30k miles 355 Bs out there to be had for $70k. And the links I can provide you are for cars that are asking 85-95K but if you're serious and talk to them for 10 minutes you can get them at $70k. just go look at talk to the sellers yourself. There's no dought in that, that is why these types of threads are so worthless. Each individual car has infinite possibilities for +$ or -$ and personal tastes thrown in on colors, three pedal, etc there is no way to really price these cars. A 98 355 B with 27k miles might have enough negatives that it will only bring 55k and another 98 355 B in the same colors etc with 29k miles might bring $130k. Unless you cab describe every aspect of the car no one can give you a value.
Still waiting to see links of all of the F355 3 pedal Berlinettas for less than $70K with less than 35K miles in the USA...
Go read my last post. Just because they are not advertised for that doesn't mean they can't be had for that. The first quarter of 2016 was one of the worst for collector car prices in many years. If you think 355 prices, even though on the rise prior, were not affected by this then you're delusional. Please by all means go pay sticker price and help us get the prices back on the rise. But there are many desperate sellers out there who don't frequent fchat to know the "real value" of their car that won't sell. So the are very open to lowering their price and dealing. If you can't get a hefty sum removed from some if these asking prices then you are doing it wrong... Or right if you want to support prices.
Brian, you are not wrong as many cars are over priced but many are not and the fact some have been on the market for a while now shows the owners are not dropping the price that much in a 10 minute phone call. I know you recently sold your car and took less than you would have liked but keep in mind, you were in a hurry. Had you hung in a bit longer, you probably could have gotten more. And, you stated yourself the car needed some attention. The good, sorted cars, that are true (not just a sales person saying so) are selling for numbers much higher than your estimate. But to your point prior, these threads are rather useless as the condition, colors, etc will drive the value. There is not 355 value calculator. Hey - maybe a new product?
