I just had 3 original OMEA Dino nose badges redone by badgecraft.co.uk, they matched the colors, replated and did a really nice job.
This is a good option since repro items don't hold up (I'm told).

If you're thinking of doing this, there are long lead times on getting this type work done.
    Cheers Andrew

Do you have any `before' pictures to see how bad they were? I have an extra original Dino nose badge and considered just tossing it assuming it was a lost cause...at least I think I didn't toss it.

They were in beat up and worn shape, broken enamel, all plating worn down to Cu base one was a little bent.
I wasn't expecting a miracle but was surprised how nice they came back.

These all came off 246, L and E-series note some minor variation in blue color.

Few hundred USD per badge, I did a batch so might work out to be more for one.

Fair prise, it most be a quite labor intensive job to rebuild those badges. That will be a Christmas gift for my self this year.

Not a bad price considering the labor involved. I lucked into an NOS badge for next to nothing as our original was a little tired. The original now adorns a framed photo of 01464 I gave Paul for Christmas :)

Hi Andrew. That looks like really great work. I had not come across Badgecraft, despite looking quite hard recently.
I wonder do your badges have a steel backing? It seems so. I have a Maserati Ghibli badge which I was hoping to have refurbished. But Vaughtons, one of the other reputable refinishers in the UK, warned that Aluminium backed badges would be destroyed by the stripping process and mine is non magnetic, but not stainless, so I assume Al or white metal.

I did look as far afield as the US and there is a company in Signal Hill near Long Beach CA called Emblemagic who seem to deal with similar work.

    Best to all.

    Mark.

I sent an email enquiry to Badgecraft to determine if they’re in business. It appears that the web site has not been updated recently.

I received a reply from Badgecraft and they are indeed open for business.:)

    Hi Mark,
Yes, these have a steel backing and are chromed as well.

Thanks Andrew. I will have to search harder for NOS. All the reproduction badges available for Maserati are too rounded in shape. I suppose there’s always the possibility of making a completely new badge. That’s the ‘nuclear option’ though!

    Regards.

    Mark

Yes, there is a person in the US doing this, they also have long lead times like Badgecraft. But, they're in the US, so more convenient for us folks stateside. Contact Karla at Maxwell Enamels, info on their site:
