With Monza almost certainly on it's way out (for now...remember Spa ''left'', too!), Imola has confirmed today they want to host the Italian GP next year.

Fingers crossed! Tough to overtake there, but with the new layout (huge straight again) there is more opportunity to do so. Wonderful track, and we can't not have a GP in Italy IMO.

+1 on there having to be an Italian GP.

    Nice Circuit.

Historically at San Marino, Ferrari & Williams have won eight times, McLaren six times and Benetton, Brabham, Lotus and Renault one each.

I am appalled they can't work something out with Monza but glad to see Imola possible coming back. Would like to have both tracks on the calendar

I was mentioning those times, I should've been more clear ;). They're now full back and likely remain so.

It would solve a lot of problems if they *did* hose the tracks.

Lots of regulations are tied to slowing the cars down, a wet track accomplishes that, and would allow free-er car design.

I don't see how Imola can get the $$$ together to host a race vs. Monza? This is an Ecclestone push to get the Italian govt. to back the race... which will in the end work.

spirot is correct. Bernie is trying to leverage more $ for Monza. If Monza is dropped purists such as myself will howl, but what the dwarf is after, as always, is $.

"hose" as in fire hose to wash away or as in urinate on... to get rid of either seem appropriate :=)

Did he?...... I believe it's more popular than ever. Revenue is greater than ever.

Not bad for a Pygmy from South London. ;)

What is the catalyst for Monza leaving? Just not willing to pay the fee or what? It really is disappointing that the big Euro tracks are under attack in replace for "exotic" locales.
