Mike, While the distributor part number you posted might be the correct one (where did you see that number?), you'll have more luck searching by the number that is found on the metal tag on the distributor, a number such as S85C or S129G. Many vintage Ferrari utilize the same style distributor and you will find a some info online and on this forum on those.

Here's a page with quite a bit of information on these distributors.
    tavspinterogeni

It will require a lot of research and studying on your part to understand the distributor and get it to perform as it should. A distributor testing machine (i.e., Sun) is almost a necessity since the crank/flywheel timing marks are in the most inconvenient place; in the rear of the engine under the car. Running a timing gun down there while playing with the throttle can be done but it's harrowing experience.

There is no one-stop shopping for parts and Marelli provides nothing. Superformance in the UK sells points and other parts that *may* fit your distributor. Even new parts can have a dissatisfying level of craftsmanship and fit so in most cases NOS Marelli or the existing parts are better. Do not throw anything away.

Hope that helps in getting you going.

Mike on VLG there's a files section and in it is a tech article I did for converting the single distributor version to Pertronix by combining a Ferrari Dino kit and a Vw bug kit (for the second sensor). They have subsequently come out with a kit unless they dropped it? They also have a kit for the dual distributor setup. So I'm a bit confused by this info you've gotten. At any rate, I point you to the article because in it I also convert the distributor via a simple aluminum mounting plate on the shaft to accept the Jaguar V12 Marelli style cap & rotor which are very available and not that expensive from Marelli plus there are a lot of Chinese knockoffs why I haven't tried. The original style cap & rotor will be somewhere north of $1K.

The dual style caps can be found from Jacques @ Maseratisource. He has the points and rotors as well.

Chad is on here as well as on VLG. He can help you out too. He's some cars for folks on here and knows the V12s well.

When I tackled mine I spent plenty of time on here searching for threads about Ferrari distributor rebuilds and there are a few places you can send your distributor(s) to. I even contacted some the folks on here about their experiences.

    Good luck.

    Bob S.

Post some photos of the Espada you bought. There are two VLG websites now in anticipation of Yahoo going bye bye.

This (5010 219 1 15) is the number on the red Magneti Marelli tag. I would publish a photo but FC will not let me.

Clean it, sand it, paint it including engine compartment, tunnel, underside. Place it with my other vehicle. It is the interior that I would have a hard time figuring what to do it for displaying.

When finances call for it, I usually have an eye out for some kind of cheap partial car to display. Especially old formula car.

    Pete's price is outrageous, 90k.
I'm a buyer at 20-25k. However, being an automatic, he should pay me 20k to take it away ;)

In all seriousness, I am not opposed to the automatic. It is rare, factory, and my wife can drive it without me worrying that she is burn up the clutch. However, if it is your only Lamborghini, then an automatic is not right for the Lamborghini experience. I have 3 manual Lamborghinis, an auto is not going to effect me like most.

For me the most interesting thing about this car is the interim nature of it. He did take a few liberties with originality but I think the switch identification plate ala series 1 probably is original in this car as well as the fresh air intake at the base of the windshield.

Need to find out which Vintage air system fit in that dash and now works adequately???

Perhaps he also had the series 1 AC which only has the evaporators with fans in the rear seating area under the windows ????? I bet three evaporators and a much bigger ventilation fan would really do the trick.

I'm sure there is a way to contact Jay or, even better, his shop. They're all car guys and have to believe they would enjoy you picking their brains about the a/c and other stuff.

I would not be surprised if they were on here.

The guy who advised him on this car is on here. But I don't know if they took any of it? Looks like they didn't perf the seat backs but the video is pretty low res. Not sure about the seat faces.

    Hi,
I had the honor to make a full set of body side moldings for Jay's car. His car is a series 1 that had been converted to series 2 from what I hear at the factory.
The mounting for the S1 air conditioning registers and the evaporators is still there but none of the equipment is in the car. The dash panel does not have the choke cable nor the hole in the dash for the choke cable.
Again I have the deepest respect for Jay as the ultimate car Enthusiast and was overjoyed when I was able to make some parts for his car. Laust made New Door checks and I assisted in installing them. I gave Jay a few of the Bob Estes license plate frames. I see that he put one of the frames on this car. Bob Estes is such a unsung hero of the early cars in the United States. With with the help of Bob S. I was able to direct the upholsterer to include the perforations on the front of the seats.

    Hi Bob,

So his is one of the cars that got a dash conversion? I also noticed that the vents in the center console have a chrome ring around them. Do you know what's up with that? I think it looks good.

But the big question is if you know anything about his AC system make over, like does it actually work and which unit how etc? I bet a lot of people would be interested to hear about that. He should have done an instructional video! :D

Does anyone know of a source for the under-bonnet insulation for an Espada?

On my car this insulation is torn in places and has also been painted black, which doesn't look nearly as good as the neat silver finish it must have left the factory with. I've never seen this type of insulation being offered anywhere but thought someone on here might know where I might get it from..

    Many thanks!

Harry, you should join VLG and then you look this stuff up as plenty have already supplied the info such as the aforementioned Bob Huber.

Is it absolutely identical? I don't think so. It's probably better stuff and very close.

    Good luck.
