    Putting new rotors and pads on my 360. It was simple enough until I needed to remount the handbrake caliper on the rears. Can anyone tell me how to get the thrust piston retracted back into the caliper so the handbrake pads are spaced enough to fit onto the new, now thicker, rotor? Since its mechanically driven I see an allen screw in the caliper (odd size, somewhere between 4mm and 4.5 mm) perpendicular to the bolt that attaches the actuating lever to the piston so I assume it has something to do with it, but didn't want to start randomly turning things. I have a Ferrari service manual, but have found nothing that addresses this particular issue.

    if I understand it correctly
    there are 2 holes on the outside of the piston that you can use snap-ring plier to rotate the piston to move in and out

    Just by memory, but doesn't the piston have a twisting/screwing action to retract it? I think I used some angle pliers, but there are specific tools made for this...

    go to any auto parts store and purchase what is referred to as a brake ice cube. it is a aluminum block with different pin patterns on each side that connects to a ratchet and extension. you will turn the piston back in. dont turn it back in too far. just enough for the caliper with pads to be installed and the rotor to spin freely. you will use the handbrake to adjust the rest of the way.

    ... I didn't have to remove the handbrake calipers when doing my brakes. I just remove the handbrake pads and slide the rotors off on an angle.

    I have not heard of this term before so I went to thegoogle and it's not there either. Anyone know the technical term for this tool?

    Yes, thanks all of you for your replies. I was able to use a pair of needle nose pliers to simply screw the piston back in to get the required clearance. It's embarrassing how simple it was to do.
