Who knows what kind of plastic the window is ? Acrylic or Lexan ? I want to clean it and am afraid of using the wrong chemicals.

Why use chemicals? Water and a microfibre cloth is sufficient...

If you get something on the plastic that is not water soluble you will need to use some kind of chemical that bonds to the dirt/ oil. You do not want to just use water and the pressure of the towel. That results in scratches. I think Plexus works well too. I would start with water and high quality car wash soap. If that doesn't work, move on to stronger things like Plexus.

That thing can get very dirty from inside if you drive the car very hard and for a long time, especially after each track use, I have to clean it. You get all kinds of stuff on it which can not be cleaned by water; oil mist, particles from exhaust system, etc. I use S100 cleaner Amazon.com: S100 12301F Special Surface Cleaner Bottle - 10.1 oz.: Automotive which is very good for Lexan and similar plastic windows and I'm quite happy with it

Resurrecting an old thread. Somehow after my speciale went to the dealer the rear window came back cloudy with a ton of haze. It was bad enough that it looked completely fogged up. The detailer I went to used wax to clean it. It took multiple attempts but it finally cleared up. I don't know if plexus would have cleared it up right away since he didn't have any on hand but waxing made it look good as new.

I use Reload on mine after Billy @ Presidential Detailing put a ceramic coating on it. Inside and out.

I use Plexus for some plastic cleaning jobs, but prefer 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, which is a very mild finishing polish used by auto painters. It is not abrasive, and in fact is used to polish small scratches left on paint after a more abrasive liquid product is used in the finishing process. It's also great on tail light lenses, and leaves no residue. It contains no wax. Fred

    Sorry but please clarify.
Are we talking about the rear window covering the engine compartment
or the rectangular window behind the seats?

I do have to agree after long drives; you will get some residue and if you get rained on; even the rear rectangular window gets stained if you don't clean quickly.

So not the rear window but the engine lid ... :)

I have to clean my rear window almost every week after trips but never had to use anything else than soapy warm wather and a cloth ...
